Hi All,

Is there a possible way to "integrate" / "preload" a driver within the OS?

I would like the create something so that non-Administrative users (they don't have the rights to install usb devices) can attach a pre-defined Smartcard Reader to the system, but in a way that they do not have to authenticate as an administrator.

It would be nice that when they connect the device the only visible things would be the balloon popup stating "found.." and "device is ready...". But keeping the "New hardware wizard" invisible.

(OS: Windows XP, SP2)

Tnx in advance!
THa RuSHeR

You can do this with the Devcon app. Be warned, however, that (at least I have not determined how) Devcon has problems installing multi-state drivers. In other words, say you have an "unknown device" and then you install the driver and then you have one or two more devices that appear after. I had this problem when trying to use Devcon to install 2 Port Serial cards, where it would install the driver for the first port but fail on the second.

You can also look into using Drive Forge as well.
