Hey guys
A couple of days ago I made a post about how my PC was not working any more.
http://www.MSFN.org/...showtopic=12768
Well, today after showing the PC to a hardware/maintenance shop, i found out tht my motherboard is dead. sigh. Now I need to buy a new one.
I was using an Intel D850**, with 256 MB RdRam and had a P4 2.4Ghz 533 Bus processor
Now i have to buy a new mobo so im lookin for 2 things:
1. I want to swithc to RDRAM, cuz i think thats where the future is. (If anyone else thinks otherwise, pls suggest)
2. I dont want to replace my processor right now, but i want to buy a board that will definitely support the future Prescotts. I dont want a board that is simply following the FMB 1.5 guidelines for Prescott ( http://www.hardocp.c...ml?art=NTY1LDM= ). I want full blown support, and compatibility. which means that there should be no strings attached and no hicoughs when i want to upgrade my processor to a Prescott lets say 6 to 8 months down the road when i have enough cash.

You may want to think about doing it this way. Some of the Intel 850E do not cost what the use to. This one is $70 USD and you can more than likely hunt around in you area and find one that is cheaper. Unless you have already tested the CPU and RDRAM that was in the board when it stopped working it could be bad as well. So get something cheap just in case. By doing it this way you will be able to get up and running. Then save your money for the new system. There is nothing for sure on system boards and the way they will work with Prescott when it comes out.
Just an idea..

I agree with Tinker. Give the new Prescott boards about six months to be tested before you plunk down all that cash. Then you will have all the information you need to make an educated buying decesion. Otherwise, everything is just speculation.
