I've installed XP SP3 Home after using nLight to slipstream a number of hotpacks etc and I also REMOVED the Search Assistant from the installation.

Is there a relatively straightforward method to re-install/re-instate the "Search Companion" functionality without having to make a new nLite installation disk and then re-installing XP from scratch ? Thanks for your help.

englishman, please search this site for an 'undo' for search assistant. Let us know if this helps. Enjoy, John.

Thanks for the advice johnhc. Unfortunately the suggestion didn't work - I think because the Kelly's Corner script is purely a registry tweak whereas nLite doesn't seem to install any of the "search assistant" files.

However I've found a solution which seems to do the job :

1) Copy "srchasst.inf" into "c:\windows\inf"

2) Right click srchasst.inf (install)

3) At prompt, put full XP CD into drive to allow srchasst.inf to copy relevant files onto PC

4) Run "regsvr32 %windir%\srchasst\srchui.dll" in regedit

5) Run script under "Method 1" from http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/123/...top-Search.html

This approach looks like it's worked for me and not caused any problems.

I'd be interested to know if there is a more simple solution.
