Hello everyone
I'll thank you in advance for any help as I am new to this forum and to the computer field.
I recently did a clean install from a wind98se disk. When I attempt to install updates and programs, the fresh OS does not read the installation package from the disk. It does read or recognize some of the installers but out of 15 updates I have on disk only 3 are recognized as being there. The updates will show as being on disk in my laptop and other computers.
Am I lacking some codec or file? It may be on the disk but if it can not be read ...........???
Is there a way to attach an ethernet cable to the pc's and install that way?
Thank You

Welcome to the Board Richard!
What are you actually trying to install?
You say "updates". Do you mean MS updates?
If you're trying to install other programs, is the install.exe or setup.exe file not showing on the installation disk(s), but other files are?

Have you installed Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows 95, 98, and Me?
