spwizimg.dll

I attempted to edit the image 516 in spwizimg.dll (Vista Ultimate 32). All I want to change is the white background with an image of my choosing. When I attempt this and test it in Vista setup I get the black border and no transparency. Any suggestions or ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

@EagleWing

You can edit it in photoshop.

The image is with alpha layers so if you save it as a .bmp check 'advanced options' and check 'A8 R8 G8 B8' at 32 bit option.

Then you 'll not have the black border.

Hope this helps, DJPro

I will give it a try and let know how I fared. Thanks

Well I gave it a try and here is what happened. I installed Adobe Photoshop CS4 extended. I then loaded my 516 bitmap from the spwizimg.dll file and then 'placed' the image of my choice and resized appropriately, saved as per your instructions. I then used resource hacker to open spwizimg.dll. I then attempted to replace the 516 bitmap file with my edited file. All I got was a violation code message. I saved it anyway and tested it. The image appeared as I edited, worked fine. Just wondering why I got the error message. Did I do something wrong? Any ideas?

I inserted a transparent bmp (516) in Windows 7 spwizimg.dll.

it works fine in first setup of Windows, but after first restart, when Windows 7 starts installation, the default Windows 7 installation screen comes again.

how I can change the second screen? Also I want to change the Windows 7 installation texts.

I welcome any idea,

Thanks in advance.

youre after w32uires.dll for both text and colors

problem is, you can change these things only with win7 before SP1

as SP1 includes certificate/signature check, and you can't fake that

so if you change something it will break, unfortunately I had to find this out on hard way....

there are also backup files within wim of the same (w32uires and spwizimg, and others...)

so if you edit originals you need to replace backup ones too
