The Palamino family terminated at 2100+
The Barton series starts at 2500+ and has 512 KB of L2 cache on the processor itself (you can check this point using the WinCPUid utility).

So you can be 100% sure you have a ThoroughBred (256 KB of L2 cache) - the best for overclocking, etc, if it was manufactured in the B0 batch.

I have a 2400+ with an nForce2 MoBo, and could take it from its native speed of 2.0 GHz to 2340 MHz - very good achievement of the processor, considering that I don't use any special cooling mechanism.
How I did it - locked the rest of the system Bus speeds and pushed up the processor's FSB to 156 MHz (from 133 MHz) through the BIOS.

It's lovely. As for wanting to know more detailed info about your processor, first look up this article :
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mai....php?UID=amdcpu

Then, open your system case, unmount the processor fan, and note down the serial numbers on it and compare it against the above article.

Cheers !!!

well i built this system and the funny thing is i couldnt remember what family the processor was in the reason i was trying to figure it out was to try to over clock it, you gave me great advice, thank you so much, and thats a great increase that you made with just a regular cooling method, im impressed, im running a 2400+ xp with a soyo model mobo and im thinking about pushing the limits alittle to see just what i can get out of it,,

thank you once again for your great advice and yes its a throughbred :)
