HAL.DLL error

I installed Windows XP SP2 from my usb stick (following all instructions). Now when i try to run Windows XP, I keep getting an error "ERROR LOADINNG HAL.DLL, it says that the file is not installed or curropt and says that the system be reinstalled. I reformatted my stick and reloaded windows xp, installed from it again. I still get the same error. Please Heip
