Hi all,

I got most help for all the applications i wanted to include in the image, though i am having some trouble with software that needs a serial number input during installation, such as Partition Magic 8.0.
The switches for PM8 seems to be ok, but when trying a batch file to execute the silent install, an error log was created:

[ResponseResult]
ResultCode=-3

This is the result (I guess) from the missing serial number, so I added the registry key for the serial number and username and all and tried again.
But still the same error.

Any help on this particular program and in general for all software that needs serial numbers for installation?

Thanks :)

I came across a problem like this with Copernic Agent, when I tried a silent install it would stop at the serial screen, when I inputted the serial number the installer continued.

I altered my script, installed over the last installation and tried again but this time no serial number was requested so I began to search the registry for any sign that it was added there, I deleted all the entries respective of the program and installed again, no serial requested, onto the Copernic directory, and tracked it down to a dll file that was created after the serial was added, so you could search the registry and delete the entries added from the first install and if you have no joy start deleting the files one by one and installing over the previous installation to see if this program creates a dll or other file.

This worked for me but I've no doubt there will be a better way.

One way I got it to work was to use Installrite to monitor the application. When the install is finished, finish up with Installrite, then run Partition Magic and register with your key. This was saved to,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Protexis\Licenses\540606465

on my machine, but the random number will probably be different on yours, Export the key, then I added this to the RunOnceEx.cmd

SET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Partition Magic 8" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\pm8\setup.exe" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 2 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\pm8\key.reg" /f

and it seems to have installed properly, but you may want to check it on a clean system.

A bit of concentration please. He just told you.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Protexis\Licenses\

The contents of that branch after you have registered it.

How are you unattendly installing PM8 you really need to do the setup.iss method to correctly install this unless you do it with Autoit?
Both of these have been mentioned many times over.

Use "/A" switch on PM8 setup to make an admin install point, then use "/QB" on the resulting MSI. (that's the simplest, you give key while making AIP)
