InstallRite 2.5 did the trick for me... !!

Just do a clean install of winxp and install only installrite 2.5 on it.
Then make a snapshot of your system and install all the basic applications you want. Make sure you delete all the temporary files afterwards and re-order your start menu the way you like it.
Then build and that would be the only fully silent installation you will have to do afterwards.

As i've said, it worked fine for me, though with some applications you may have some problems.

i haven't used this installrite before.

I suspect it works fine if installed back onto the same PC you took the build from but it will have far less success when used to install to a different rig.

i would be interested if anyone has had success with other PC's?
