got a question

does FFDshow works in combination with XP's default WinMediaPlayer 9
or integrating it just with that player is useless ?

As far as I know, FFDShow is a DirectShow filter and works with all DirectShow players, including WMP. One thing you can do is download and install wmfdist11.exe (sorry, I couldn't find the download link from MS) which will install the WMP11 Media Format Runtime and codecs without actually installing the WMP11 player.
