Yeah windows betas are ok in general.
The things i'll never see in windows:

Support unsigned themes.
Do not store/aggregate/randomize from UUID.
Product activation backup / recall in the setup wizard.

Service packs that bring service, not just bug fixes.
Things like: updated removable media support to support
DVD'S as well as CD'S a frustration in xp.
extra themes, more sounds, upgraded web browser and mail client
Now they are just a few things.

Pre release beta testers should get their own retail key for the finished product at least 70% off its retail price or free.period.

the issue with that is that the themes need to fully support windows and not have bugs in them.
and for MS to monitor that would be a huge PITA.
then they would have customers going crazy about things not working.

remember xp sp2?
what more exactly do you want?
lots of service is added to the new OSes in itself.

what do you mean?
and have you tried vista of win7 at all?
and why use the windows burning program when there are many superior tools out there?

you are able to change colors alot in vista and win7, and aero is pretty cool.
but i do agree some more variety would be nice.
and the web browser is updated, IE8...

many vista beta testers were given vista for free.
it may happen with win7 beta testers as well but that seems unlikely to me.

We already had such post for Win 7

Long Zheng even startd a website to improve the windows 7 experience (also for vista and Snow Leopard ) based on user feed backs

but m$ will sticking on their policy , idont think they are listening to any of these sites....

so i think such a thread is of no use....

compnies r mostly driven by market values (how fast dey can market mad make profit) and less of user feedback (only frm beta tsesters)

Oh yes they do read the feedback, even from the executive level. Based on my own experience . They'll disguise usually unless one of the big dogs like Sinofsky or Balmer. they will register and then reply if you hit a nerve.Hi Steve.

Features I'd like to see in Windows:
  • Restore clean install - Restore all parameters to their defaults including windows size and positions. Just like a newly installed computer.
  • Each Program for its own - End this "dll" and registry dependence. Each program should have its own directory which includes any dependency it needs. No shared "dll" etc...
Uninsatlling a program means deleting the directory, as simple as that.
  • Built in media files indexer - We have a lot of videos, music, pdf's, eBooks etc. I'd like to have some kind of an indexer program to handle this.
