Man your install size is < that mine !!!!
Check this:
1) 7229 x86 ULTIMATE have 364 packages/features.
2) Original DISM remove guide from dead0 remove 72 packages (your txt remove 87 packages !!!!!!)
3) vLite "see" about 179 packages
364 (ALL) - 72 (Dead0 guide) - 179 (vLite package list) = 113 --> not visible/removible with vLite ?

EDIT: After delete Hibernation file, My install size is 2.35 GB !!! But I have problems with printers (driver removed in ULTRA), I will try again with printer driver support

UPDATED the 2 presets in the main post again to remove everything and keep max OS functionality.

The ELITE preset KEEPS file and print sharing with related services, print drivers with support, and windows media player.

The ULTRA preset REMOVES file and print sharing with related services, print drivers with support, and windows media player.

PS (These presets are at there max and this should be the final revision of them ENJOY!) :)

so use elite to enable printer support or use my preset if you want to.

Hey what language u writing in dead i can code in vb.net and c# its been a while but i am also great and designing GUI stuff. I am currently downloading 7232 x64 i did a lite install of 7229 i am amazed i got the install under 3 gigs (amazing for 64 bit) hehe :) :thumbup

dont do any language, just like to experiment in shrinking OS's to have a minimalist, fully functioning OS that uses less ram & space than normal! :P

well done gen but looks like you're also using 32bit so it shrinks more than the 64bit!

No i can't figure out whats breaking the group policy editor (gpedit.msc) Other then that the ELITE preset would be the way to go keeps the most functionality. The ULTRA preset removes a lot of functionality but is still very usable. :thumbup

I have one error under Application. None under System. I think it has to do with removing System Restore

The Cryptographic Services service failed to initialize the VSS backup "System Writer" object.

dead

The culprits of breaking the gpedit.msc could be...

Remote Desktop Assistance
Bit locker Encryption
TPM Service

just wondered but if you keep the dfs replication, the group policy should work! dont know why dfs is the culprit tho?
