using unallocated space

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a drive with vista home basic on it, using only half of the drive, and

the other half of the drive is unallocated for the moment.

How can I claim the unallocated space into one single drive in vista?

Thanks.

I'm not a Vista user but I don't think it has that capability. I believe only dynamic disks can be merged.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You'll need a 3rd party partitioning program like EASEUS Partition Master (free) to accomplish that.

Just a suggestion but why would you want your OS partition to use the entire drive when you can split it up and make it more useful? Stuff like keeping your important data on a separate partition in case you need to reinstall the OS.

Use disk management console. Right-click my computer. Then click manage. then use disk management. right click on your drive, then extend volume.

I would rather create a data partition out of that drive. how big is it? is it a laptop? it could be a recovery partition.
