G'day everyone I'm not sure where this topic should go but I'm having a annoying little problem when I type on my PC.
Whenever I go to type a (") or a (')
(Remove the brackets)
It does not get typed in instantly like every other key. I will push in (") but it will not be typed in until I type another letter or press space. I have used a different keyboard (USB) but the problem continues. It is only for the one key. The (") and (') button.
If I plug the keyboard into another USB port the problem still continues. Any advice would be appreciated as this has been going on for some time. The OS has been nLited but I don't think that would have done it. Specs for my PC in sig.

Maybe you have a keyboard configuration that use those keys as accents so if you type a voyel after that you get it accentuated but an other letter displays normally ?

Accents?? I not quite with you there. Please explain

EDIT: I do not have any special keyboard configuration that I know of and am using a MS wired keyboard 600.

Please check your language and keyboard settings under "Regional and Language Settings" in control Panel. The option is in the second tab, Languages". Click on details to see if the settings are set to US or UK. If not, change it.

If the above is okay, Click on the Advanced Tab and Turn off the Advanced Text Services. This should be able to solve your problem. Do let me know if it worked.

I'm not talking hardware config., I'm talking Language/keyboard options from the Control Panel.
Accents: ...é,è,à,ù...ô,ï,...

Ah I see. No it does not accent the letter after that. I can just type ' but it won't come up until I type another letter or press space (meaning if I want a space after the ' I have to press space twice).

If everything is set to correct under both keyb and regional languages in control panel, I would suggest that you should check out the accessibility options in the control panel - under the accessibility icon, especially Filter Keys. Try typing in the Filter Options text box and if you face difficulty, then the only option i can see is to reinstall the keyboard from Device Manager.

Hi there, I do not have any accessibility options in my control panel as they were removed using nLite
I just uninstalled the keyboard driver then restarted and it automatically reinstalled it but the problem still continues. Any other ideas???

You're using the wrong keboard setting. Your system must be set to "United States - International", whereas it ought to be just "US". Right-click on the Language Band, but not over the "EN" and select "Settings...": you'll see a window called "Task Services and Input Languages". Inside it highlight "United States - International", under "Keyboard", select "Add", scroll the listbox, select "US" and click "OK". A second keybord will have been added, but it is not the default just yet. Now highlight again "United States - International" and click "Remove". Not only "United States - International" is removed, but also the "US" you just added changes to bold type, because now it has become the default (and only) keyboard for the "EN" language. Now click "OK", and the "Task Services and Input Languages" window will close. At this point your problem should be solved. Good luck!
