This is not an nLite symptom. It's normal for the computer to require a user and password, but you can turn this setting off by opening Group Policy Editor.

Open the Run box from the Start menu and type in gpedit.msc.

I'll edit this post as soon as I find the exact setting.

Beat me to it.

If you don't want XP asking you for a username/password, make sure the username/password on your computer matches the one on the computer you're trying to access.

I think you had "Simple file sharing" activated on previous installs, and not on this one. Keep it, it's more secure this way (redo your other computers).

Simple file sharing is activated by default on normal XP installation.

How? I found it through Google.

Replace 00000000 (disabled Simple File Sharing) with 00000001 (enabled Simple File Sharing).

But I recommend you to DISABLE it.

Make other computers like this one. Disable Simple Sharing for improved security. On all computers. On the next connect they will ask you for a password, you will enter it and they will remember it, so they won't ask you again.

Or if you're not confortable with that, then OK, enable it on this computer and live like before. :) Just make sure that they all are the same.

My opinion is that "the default" is not always the best choice. ;)

In nLite it's under:

[Tweaks]
Network-Disable Simple File Sharing

(You want to have default behavior, so don't tick it).
