I am so gonna test this!
This program is capable of removing all Win7 packages? Not like vLite?

Nice tool, although, i'd really love, if it would be possible to run it under Windows XP
like nlite, where you can create cd's for windows 2003 within xp etc.

it is slower because of the new WIM driver from Windows 7. This driver is much slower when commiting and unmounting the install.wim :(

very interesting tool !

i have little issues, but its an alpha build, so i think its normal.
i can't add hotfixes (those for 7600.16399), they don't appear, or the program shut down with an error.
and i have tried to remove components, it seems to work, but in the apply tab, i choose "rebuild yes", and my new wim file size doesn't have change (i have removed VirtualPC-Packages and Localization-packs ...)

i have tested this with the last WAIK for 7 RTM on Vista SP2 x86 and on 7 RTM x64.

just to know if im doing something wrong, or if its normal ...

some suggestions for :
- a little description of the packages in the remove tab could be great
- service and others optimization like in nLite/vLite should be awesome too.

good work !

EDIT : i've noticed i have dism error on all WMP or WMC related packages ...

I am trying to remove packages of Win Server 2008 R2 with this tool...

and, so far, I am always getting the following error:

Quote

--- EXCEPTION #2/2 [ArgumentException]
Message = “PreparePackagesRemove failed to load registry key”
ExceptionPath = Root
ClassName = System.ArgumentException
InnerException = “Exception #1 at Root.InnerException”
HResult = -2147024809

I have Windows 7 WAIK ...

Does anybody know if I am doing something wrong?

Ok, solved the reg-key problem.

But this tool actualy returns error codes when trying to remove much more packages than just IIS*-packages

I am now removing each offending package and re-doing the removal process

So far, I've found:

Microsoft-ActiveDirectory-WebServices-Package
Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-TSV-VmHostAgent-Package
Microsoft-Windows-Rights-management-Services

To cause error codes.

i think because there a parent package of iis that remove all the rest and then the app trying to remove them again those sub-packages its give the error not sure

even i remove those packages manually i still get those error
