Beside 1 issue I had with my batch-file I have had another go on the final version of Home Premium (Dutch) I bought 2 days ago. I do need to perform the installation 1 final time, but it seems to work great. ISO is a bit, smaller but the wim-file is abou the same size.

Hi,
I have a question regarding some of the steps:

4. Packages removal (removal.bat packages; 3/4: removal.bat pre)
5. vLite (Component removal only)
6. Cleanup of files and folders (removal.bat cleanup)
7. Integrate Drivers (removal.bat drivers; 6/7: (removal.bat post)

In step 4, I run removal.bat packages. What does the 3/4: removal.bat pre mean? Do I run that directly after/before?

In step 7, I Integrate Drivers. What does 6/7: (removal.bat post) mean?

Also, can I use Vlite to integrate drivers instead?

Thx.

@theKramer: it means that 'if you want to do step 3+4 in one go, use the command removal pre'.

I just gave this a go with no changes (except for paths) to removal.bat and the vlite preset slightly changed (see below). I saw many of the components in this preset of yours that I couldn't remove without an error msg in the setup with just using vLite. What makes it work in your solution then?

Anywayz, I got the error I suspected while doing the setup: corrupted installation image. What the hell went wrong?

vLite changes:
Added for removal:
Character Map
Floppy Disk Support
Shell event sounds
Beep
(have never added those, never gave me problems before)

Removed from preset, so still in image:
Modem Support
Printer Support
TV Tuner support
Windows Portable Devices
Windows Media Player
File and printer sharing (Server)
Network Explorer
Remote Desktop and Assistance
Remote Desktop Client
DHCP
DNS Client
Network Access Protection Agent
Network List Service
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Routing and Remote Access
Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP)
Task Scheduler
TCP/IP NetBios Helper
Telephony
User-mode Driver Framework
Volume Shadow Copy
WebDAV (WebClient)
Windows Color System (WCS/ICM)
Windows Time
Digital Rights Management (DRM)
Tablet PC
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (Shimgvw)

Just so you know that I successfully created a smoothly running installation (be it after about 6 trials). I attached the batch and the vLite .ini.

Attached File(s)

I went trough all this Guide and it all worked well but one thing does bother me...

none of the remove.bat are working properly..I always get an error "access denied" at every file the batch want to remove from the mounted image.
I tried JJ's DISM Tool and GImageX Tool both with write access on the Image but I just dont get the write/delete access...any ideas?
Also Im unable to remove Files in the image by hand (have got admin rights)

Removing Packages with DISM works

Running Win7 64bit and slipstreaming a Win7 64bit Pro Version.

regards Sxxin

I think I got the same error also. Try this:
http://www.askvg.com/add-take-ownership-op...-windows-vista/

When you have imported the reg file, right click on your mounted folder and click "Take ownership". You may have to restart the computer. As far as I can remember, that worked for me.

What size did you get it down to? I can only ever get it down to about 1.8GB.
Were you able to remove IE as well?
Cheers

Install.wim is 1.74GB. Had no intention of removing IE8.

Thank you for the Reg file..thanks to this I could get closer to my wanted result but
Hmm thats weird
when I execute the batch file normaly or with admin rights I get the same 2 types of errors as before
when I go into the folder and search for the files that are listed in the batch file I can remove them manually
Of course I could remove all files by hand now but that would be alot of work and wasted time...
*sigh* why doesnt those batch files work properly ?
:(

Sorry if I am repeating what you said, but did you run the command prompt with Admin rights?

At which stage do you get the error?
I get an error in the cleanup phase (step 6), that i cant move beyond.

what cleanup phase do u mean?

1 delete packages with DISM
2 nlited components and so on
3 deleted files via batch file
(now it worked btw had to take over ownership in all folders manually, remount the wim file and then run the bat file again)
4 burn iso

but im still at step 3 so far

Recommended use
1. Modify the removal.bat to fit your needs (just in case you forgot)
2. Integrate Language pack (removal.bat langpack)
3. Integrate Updates (removal.bat updates)
4. Packages removal (removal.bat packages; 3/4: removal.bat pre)
5. vLite (Component removal only)
6. Cleanup of files and folders (removal.bat cleanup)
7. Integrate Drivers (removal.bat drivers; 6/7: (removal.bat post)
8. vLite (Tweaks only: reduce image size after cleanup)
9. Test on a secondary partition or to a virtual environment (such as VMware)
10. After installation final steps can be performed (removal.bat final)

Having reviewed the whole thread, I think my errors might be due to my using Vlite to remove too much. Unfortunately I am away on business so I wont be able to verify this for another week :(
Hope you get your issues fixed pretty soon

Did you modify removals.bat in any other way than to change the file directories?
Congrats on your success. Hopefully I will be able to sort my problems soon :)

I used it to remove most fonts, some I left in. For the rest, just compare the attached file with the original and you'll see what has been changed...

Jeronimo

great tutorial !!!!!!!!!
but I have a question

what can I do to add more languages with the removal.bat

I mean it is possible to choose language when installation starts ?
And after this installation and OS will be in language what you have chosen ?

I have second question (a new problem) :(

I finished everything what You wrote.
And when I try install system on Vmare or on the fresh formatted hard disk from dvd i see this message:

A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

Posted Image

Can You tell me why ? It is possible that some package (what I remove by removal.bat) have important files,
and that's why this message comes ? If Yes what package it's depend on it ?

Please help !
