DISM Tool™ can mount your Boot.wim #2 and help with the drivers.

You need the drivers for your motherboard, not your HDD or SSD. Go to your MOBO companies website and find the support or driver download section. Usually it is included in the Chipset driver pack, but some companies provide a separate download for SATA/RAID controllers.

anyone know whats breaking 'Turn Windows features on or off' in Programs and Features. cant turn on or off anything

Hi all,
I have finally got this method to work after many trials & tribulations. Doing a clean reinstall with the original Windows 7 DVD seemed to sort it out.

(Edited post as fixed earlier issues)

My only remaining issue is that when I double click on a folder, it opens up a new window. It does this whether I check or uncheck "Launch folder in a separate process" in the folder options.

Any ideas?

Can .NET errors ("Unhandled exception" or "Application generated an exception") be caused by this all? I chose to keep the whole .NET framework, but I'm experiencing these problems with several programs, such as Switcher (http://insentient.net/) and Ultimate Windows Tweaker (http://www.thewindow...vista#more-1957).

I know for sure now that it's in the vLite process (made images and installed after every step)...

So what component I remove breaks the .NET Framework PARTLY??

Saw this in the "Windows 7 RTM (32 & 64 Bit) *UPDATED*" topic, for anyone that might encounter the issue.

......you will need to register the "ieproxy.dll" file when removing Internet Explorer. This needs to be done immediately after installing, when the computer boots to the desktop for the first time. The file "ieproxy.dll" is located in the Windows System32 folder. This can be done using Run or Command Prompt. Type the following: regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32", then press ENTER. Then, a dialog box will appear saying that the file was registered successfully; then click and OK reboot your system. The reason this needs to be done is to prevent Windows Explorer or Computer, from opening multiple windows when you are browsing through the directories. It will also ensure that the feature; Safely Remove Hardware & Eject Media will continue to work, while also remaining enabled in the system tray.

Hi to all. I've been watching this topic since it started, and yesterday I faced a new problem. I wanted to install Expression Web 3 which requires NET 3.5 SP1 to be installed. If I try to run the installer from microsoft website it keeps telling me that I must install Net Framework 3.5 SP1 from Windows Features, but in Control Panel > Programs > Windows Features, it not appears. Using my batch script, I removed from install.wim the following packages.


Question: Is there any of these packages known as they are breaking NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5 ????

Catched. This package will remove ALSO , NET Framework 3.0 and 3.5 from install.wim when removed with DISM.

Is it really worth giving this a try? Not that Jeronimo didn't do great work, but this is still based for the larger part on the actual component removal by vLite, and to be honest I have rarely had a completely successful go with vLite on Win7. Especially stuff like .NET being broken even though I didn't remove any of its components (neither through the batch-file not through vLite). I think it would be nice to shift focus to a new approach, i.e. leaving vLite behind when it comes to Win7. RT Seven Lite seems to be on the right track in all this, though still in beta, it's doing a more than decent job.

hey i have an asrock n330 bluray media center but i want to vlite a personal copy of windows 7 ultimate as my os on this device for it this is for speed reasons i want to keep media and internet as my primary functions for this installation and also have internet tv streamed on to it plus sky player, the problem i have is vlite is a little beyond my knowledge base and i was hoping for a basic preset file with most the bloatware and stuff i dont need removed so i can just slipstream the drivers in and the software i want installing doing as an extra would anyone help me with this please as i want this setting up for my girlfriends television as a present thanks

You just need to make sure you make your install.wim workable with vLite first as outlined in this thread, before using this method...
