7) start a cmd prompt session & go to to d:\s1\sources & run ultimate.bat

This step is where I hit a brickwall.
Every command in the bat yields:
"The specified package is not valid Windows package."

This happens in both:
- XP x86 while using imagex.exe from WAIK\Tools\x86
- W7 x64 while using imagex.exe from WAIK\Tools\amd64

Image mounted to F:\s2 from F:\s1 using command:
imagex.exe /mountrw F:\s1\sources\install.wim 4 F:\s2

And unmounted with command:
imagex.exe /unmount /commit F:\s2

Are my commands ok?
If they are, then my original image must be broken.

you will need to edit the ultimate.bat by changing d:\s2 to f:\s2

are you running a 64bit os? if so, did you successfully apply the wim tweak to f:\s2?

Tried the whole thing in both XP x86 and then W7 x64, imagex.exe used according to the OS type (WAIK\Tools\x86\imagex.exe for XP 32bit and WAIK\Tools\amd64\imagex.exe for W7 x64). Wim tweak works fine, all ok in the report.

The guide is great dead0! Congratulations!:thumbup
I closed the ISO to 682 Mb (fits in CD! :w00t: ), keeping the package "TabletPC" because I use a HP TabletPC Tx2z.

A question ... I noticed that the list of removal of DISM to version Home Premium is wider (has more packages to remove) that the Ultimate version. I would like to know the difference? ... with Home Premium removal is greater?

Thanks

Sorry dead0, for I've wasted your time for nothing. The problem was in my Win7 image. Got another hold of another one and now everything's working.
Sorry again.

removal with home premium should be greater as some stuff is not installed by default compared to ultimate

i mostly pre-install what i need like desktop exp
or windows search and then vlite the system
cos the server manger is really very breakable

but there ocsetup.exe if u like to install Wireless lan

i dont think that enterprise is needed for workstation platform or home user
web edition is enuf

most of the feathers that server have is not needed for home user
that why web edition is best edition to vlite cos its already lite with less feathers then enterprise

true but i found it easier to remove more components from enterprise without breaking server manager?

but if u remove all the feathers that users dont need
what then the purpose of the server manger ?

its will have 2-3 feathers in the list

and mostly u want them pre- installed and u wont remove or add them back when u need them

its better this way cos then u could remove the dupes of those winsxs dir and save more space
better disable them from services then remove it using server manger

and

if u want to install hyper-v
better pre- install it and remove the dupes to save space
the other way is
to save the files and save the server manger files and what is attached to it
so its will work
i think the better way is the first pre-install whiling liting the iso remove the dupes as well

btw how small the enterprise without breaking server manager? small like with breaking the server manger ?
