Nice work Dead0!! Thanx!
If you read the first few pages in this post, it looks like only Dead0 seems to have a working iso and it lead me to think that, he is photoshoping or something but interestingly enough his guide actually works (but needs clarification). It has worked for me. Originally I had shyed away from it coz it looks very problematic with people getting errors left, right and centre but I decided to attempt it today and 7hrs later am finding it awesome.

Unbelievable!!!
It works just like the original image which I have down sized from 11.1gb to 3.27gb installed (Win7x64 Ultimate)
AUSOME!!!!
I still need to run more tests to confirm that its good to go

I still feel like loosing more weight but have been trying to create a system repair disk from it. It doesnt show up on the menu. Does anyone know a work around to it? I really need it!

system recovery is completely removed! :P

What really attracted me to attempt your procedure was the numerous ruthless delete statements in removal.bat (I guess more will be needed)
I have editted my former post like 5 times coz of running into problems then getting a work around to them and now I have found a work around for the Win7 64bit repair disc. So all I will be needing now is the final release of your x64 removal kit since am using your beta release now :D and I want to get down to 2.35GB installed size

Is it safe to remove snipping tool? Internet explorer?
The reason why my original full installation is 11.2gb big is because its OEM, I checked RTM which my brother has and its more than a gig smaller when fully installed  actually 1.1gb
The statistics am getting with this dead0lite image, I can only remember seeing them in windows xp, even vista never got this small and resourceful (400MB ram usage.. woot!!)

If you (anyone) managed to get Win7x64 down to 2.35GB or less for the install size and retained network, file printing, surfing, gaming, software development and coding (no webhosting or server functions) functionality can I have your remove.bat and ini files please. I'm desparate to get this iso to burn on a CD, only 138MBs away

is imageres.dll or shell32.dll missing from the system32 directory? as for the font, i think you need to keep segoe & calibri but not sure?

its gonna be very difficult to fit x64 onto a cd without breaking some functionality???

Am actually also experiencing the same thing as dridzz. Not just office but any application that you click the "open","save" or "browse" window shows unrecognized icons otherwise everything else seems fine. Absolutely no errors in event viewer!

I found the issue. Just edit removal64 and remove syswow64/imageres.dll and imageres.dll.mui

i have updated the 1st post with a new x64 batch file which i hope should fix the dialog window! this mainly affects 32bit programs so since i removed a few few 32bit system files there may still be other errors? :P

Try keeping these packages:

Microsoft-Windows-Client-Wired-Network-Drivers-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385
Microsoft-Windows-NetworkDiagnostics-DirectAccessEntry-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385
Microsoft-Windows-WMPNetworkSharingService-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385
Networking-MPSSVC-Rules-UltimateEdition-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385

Editting the remove.bat might also help

Dead0,
I have found it:
Networking-MPSSVC-Rules-UltimateEdition-Package

OSB1: Only this package?
OSB2: Packages that quoted Dead0:

Microsoft-Windows-NetworkDiagnostics-DirectAccessEntry-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7600.16385
Microsoft-Windows-Shell-HomeGroup-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7600.16385

I can keep on .bat for removal?

This I wanted to know. Thank you!

Yes, you can keep NetworkDiagnostics and Shell-HomeGroup-Package for removal.
You must also keep the following in Vlite:

untick "File and printing sharing"
untick "Computer browser"
untick "Windows connect now"
untick "tcp ip helper"
untick "ssdp"

Tweaks:
Security ac manager: set to Auto
Workstation: set to Auto

aelibey? Unfortunately this did not work
Error installing accusing lack of component ...

even these packages also included in the installation:
Microsoft-Windows-NetworkDiagnostics-DirectAccessEntry-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7600.16385
Microsoft-Windows-Shell-HomeGroup-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.7600.16385

We need to configure some more things to work.
Someone help?

I 'haven't touched anything from your preset...I have only added the drivers for the mobo/video and the firewire :blushing:

that could be why as i removed computer browser & firewire support in the preset so you will need to keep those?

After 5 cd/dvd lost...I'm unable to finalize the installation without a BSOD on the reboot with the error code 0x8030001. I have only tried to untick "computer browser" in vlite. If I try to install the full version all was working
My rig:
Gigabyte 785gt (amd 785)
Sempron 140
2*2 Ballistix
2* Compact Flash raid0

Dead0, thank you for your work and support
the os is flying right now.

I want to upload my x86 presets, maybe some may still find this usefull
I have kept the following features:

Network
fully works(network/file sharing discovery)
except homegroup.
Wlan support(is not tested)

Multimedia:
windows sidebar/gadgets
printer support
modem support, for connecting mobile phone devices(LG pc suite, Samsung pc studio etc.)
windows image acq.(Needed for webcams) and scanners?
aero, wmp12, codecs, thumbnails

Games:
game explorer
parental controls is kept(Needed for some games, such as Aoe3)
installing redistributable 2005,2008, Live will succeed

Others:
also kept , UAC, firewall, iexplorer, notepad, paint, wordpad, snipping tool

If everything goes ok, then you will get an install.wim size of exactly 500mb.
I have tested this and runs smoothly for almost 6 days.
