They did work without the removal Windows 7 x64 (download latest drivers). Both showed up in the Devices and Printers, the RX500 scanner also worked. So maybe one of the components has been removed that caused the problem.

Im using 7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD.iso and also GimageX, but...
Im doing this in Windows 7 x64 cause i have XP x86 in the other partition and i open GimageX and mount the image, well it mounts but when i check commit changes it doesnt unmount, it doesnt do anything, so i open command prompt and i use imagex /UNMOUNT /COMMIT C:\s2
Is there a problem there?
If not i dont know what im doing because it seems strange cuz when i do the first step of ultimatex64.bat and commit changes the folder gets 3.07 gigs when originally its 3.05 gigs :s
I am not using imagex am using the latest gimagex x64 from the site itself and not from the amd folder. Right before mounting at any step I would make sure the "read and write" checkbox is checked and "commit changes" checkbox isnt checked and only check it when intending to unmount. Right before making the iso I would apply all changes made in vlite and ignore all dependancies then after changes have been applied I would make the iso and thats how my iso shrinks + you need to work from an x64 platform not x86. I dont use vmware, virtualpc or any other virtualization software, I use a separate partition on my drive and have made batch files to cleanup boot.mgr,system volume information,system reserved partition, and the system files in the target drive to clean up after testing and all this am doing under x64 platform

I also realized the same but that doesnt stop the process from shrinking the iso image in the end

With support:
- File sharing and printing;
Unsupported:
- .Net3;
Simply, use the latest version of remove86x.bat, but setting the removal. Net3, right? You can send me?
I tried to edit the merging "removeNET3" with the last "remove" .. but there are so many items that I missed ...
Finally, I think this way, it would be an ideal version for many ...
Thanks

I mostly followed the tutorial but in the second vLite phase (step 17 in the tutorial) I removed WMP and DRM (vLite wouldn't remove the latter if WMP is to be kept).
Install in Virtualbox took all of 7 minutes.
ISO size: 614.016 MB.
Size of dynamic VDI file: 1518 MB (virgin system)
It currently doesn't recognize the sound device provided by Virtualbox.
Trying to add a device in Control Panel immediately gives an error message with error code 80070002.
Some tinkering ahead, and/or I'll need to keep some drivers.

the new guide should have file & printer sharing working! as for net3 removal, that may be added later as its very time consuming on which files to keep & delete!

i'll be working on a revision of the x64 guide to keep file/printer sharing but printer support should be working at the moment! you might neet to keep windows image aquisition in vlite tho for the scanner to work?
ps you might also need to keep the business scanning feature in the dism removal file?

Does someone know what necessary package I removed that it is impossible to start mmc.exe with 0xc0000142 error appearing.
added:
I've figured out that removing MDAC caused this behavior...

Is it possible to keep the .NET Framework using your method? What if I want to add/delete the components removed from your method? Do I have to edit the batch files or can I use vLite to do that? Also, is there a list somewhere of what is kept/removed using your method?
Thanks

if you use the x86 version of ultimate then full framework is kept & it also has the most functionality! the x64 has slightly less & the server r2 will be the extreme! you may need to edit the batch file if you want to keep any items that will be removed?
