Hi dead0

Thanks for your great guide. In my machine, when I ran CMD in step 5, the result of mounting registry file is fail. Did I proceed something wrong? Pls help.

Simon

did you mount the install.wim correctly with read/write option?

Hi dead0

I have already solved the above problem. Thank for prompt reply. However, if I want to retain the "Media Centre" component, what should I do? Pls advice. Thanks

Simon

you will need to use liquid's guide if you want to keep media center functionality as theres too many files removed from my guide to work out out which ones to keep & not to keep?

the guidance is great
I follow it and install w7 almost without any problems
Thanks
But anyway, there is till one problem that i can not know how to solve, or find a solution anywhere.
My HP Webcam on my DV3 does not work anymore (it work fine on w7 full version).
The driver is absent from 'device manager' and i can not find it from HP website.

I think that the removal did remove packages that support WC?
But which one of them? Any help, pls!

if you see the first post in this thread, you will see a small file called install_wim_tweak which you download & extract to a folder called win6x in your root directory.

do you have a wireless mice or keyboard or did you disable the hid input service in service tweaks in vlite?

im sure i could get it to 1.8gb as there are plenty of unused files in the winsxs folder? its just time consuming, trying to work out which ones to remove?!

About the Matlab issue I realized there is 2 ways to working around it.
Change the path to the java runtimes in Matlab installation or run Matlab in a virtual machine.
Matlab 7.1 isnt quite built to run in Win 7.

Any new Win7 x64 updates Dead0? I still want to loose more weight :D
