I tried to install my new ATI 9600XT 128MB today, but when I power up I get two beeps and no picture, the PC continues to boot though. The fan is spinning on the graphics card but nothing else. I updated my BIOS and AGP drivers but still nothing.
I haven't got onboard graphics.
When I unplug the monitor, I get a message on the screen saying a loss of signal and this goes away when I plug it into the card.
The monitor works fine with the GeForce 2. No problem.
I have also tried both connections on the back of the card but nothing.
There is something in the book about a power lead but I don't think it is for the 9600. I cant find a port on the card for it - if that is what you mean.
Not to sure what model my PSU is but its 300W - I have now ordered a 550W PSU.
My motherboard says it supports AGP2.0 2X/4X and the card needs 4X/8X so it should run.
Do you think the card might be damaged in any way? - The fan does spin - I don't think I can send it back after a certian period of time and my PSU doesn't come until a week on Monday!
How should I set up my BIOS etc for this card, just in case that is the problem.
I need some help please!

usually that's bc of not pluging the monitor well other reasons
ram might be out of its place
you might have to push your ati a little more on the agp slot...
hope this helps..

Correct, the 9600 does not require external power nor does it have a connector for it.
The Radeon 9600 requires a 1.5V (4x) or 0.8V (8x) AGP slot. It will not operate in motherboards using the older 3.3V only AGP connector. However you said your motherboard does support 4X cards so it seems to me it should work. If you could post your motherboard model perhaps someone can verify whether or not 1.5 volt cards will work in it. You may want to check in your BIOS setup to see if it needs to be set into 4X mode manually.
The only other things I can think of:
1. The card may not firmly seated in the slot, though I imagine you have already checked this.
2. The card may be defective and needs replacing. Can you try it in another PC?
Good luck with it.

I'm gonna get a replacement. My AGP slot is already at 1.5V with my current card.
I have also ordered a 550W Power Supply.

Check BIOS settings for AGP ratio. Probably it is set to 2X?
