i need to format the usb but they dont say which filesystem an 8gb usb needs to be formated to..
then which one? fat32 or ntfs?

There is no final answer.
Use a file system supported by your hardware, by the BIOS.
Some BIOS dosn't boot from NTFS.
Try NTFS, FAT32, or even FAT16.

In Section 3 of your reference I read:
Quote
Format the USB-Drive with FAT or NTFS. Note: FAT32 is very SLOW for installing XP
This means you certainly need to Format with NTFS for Install of XP from USB,
otherwise FileCopy in TXT-mode XP Setup will take an hour or so ....
