Hi, myselfidem! Thanks for sharing your work. I did some tests on my Windows 7 Ultimate (MSDN with SP1, English), unfortunately, some errors occoured during the "cleanup" process (step 8 in your post http://www.msfn.org/...post__p__970230).

Here is the error message:

How I came into this problem? Below is what I did:

System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit with SP1, MSDN, English ( Location: China. Locale: Chinese, simplified, PRC)

1) Disable System Restore and antivirus programs.

2) Extract 7elite32.rar (provided by Liquid0624, http://www.msfn.org/...post__p__933395) to "F:\7elite32\", and install WAIK 3.0 English Version (http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5753, KB3AIK_EN.iso).

3) Extract en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x86_dvd_u_677460.iso to F:\7elite32\source\.
Run gimagex.exe (x86). (http://www.autoitscr...-tools/gimagex/)
a) Go to "Apply" tab. Source: "F:\7elite32\source\sources\install.wim". Destination: "F:\temp\". Image=5. Then click "Apply" button.
b) Go to "Capture" tab. Source: "F:\temp\". Destination: "F:\install.wim". Name: "Windows 7 ULTIMATE". Description: "Windows 7 ULTIMATE". Compression: "Maximun". SKU Flag: "ULTIMATE". Display Name: "Windows 7 ULTIMATE". Then click "Create" button.
c) Replace "F:\7elite32\source\sources\install.wim" with "F:\install.wim".

4) Modify the files in "F:\7elite32\batch\"

cleanup.bat (the differences between my cleanup.bat and myselfidem's were marked in red)

Run vLite using "Last Session.ini" (Modified according to myselfidem's settings. Differences: myselfidem - French, I - Chinese).
I didn't install vLite 1.16 as myselfidem did (step 4). And I don't quite understand myselfidem's step 4: How can we run vLite before installing WAIK 1.1? Is it because myselfidem uses Windows Vista, and is it right that we do step 5 & 6 before step 4?

Used with OS Windows 7 Ultimate!

I used vLite 1.1.6 because wimgapi.dll and wimfltr folders are include inside this version and after I installed vLite 1.2 to use it!

If you see some unwanted files, you can use mount.bat and remove manually the files and if needed: takeownership to remove the files! After use commit.bat.

You can check if the files aren't already removed!! These are not errors!

For a long time I have not tried this method and I don't use for my silent install, but I remember that all is fine for me!

Enjoy!

*Edit: vLite 1.2 is used with WAIK 3.0 or WAIK 1.1 for Vista! I made some changes inside the batch files to use imagex.exe (and not in the fly...) :

set imgx="C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\x86\imagex.exe"

But to use cleanup.bat with permissions I need WAIK 1.1 for Vista. Using only WAIK 1.1 for Windows Vista seems the best way!

You made a real good test! :thumbup

You don't need to use like this with mount.bat file!

The mount.bat file itself launches the install_wim_tweak.exe at last...Just wait!

Now you can use discard.bat and try again!

Change inside the batch file mount.bat (at the top): It seems you have only one image Windows 7!

The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

when I put imagex.exe into C:\7xtreme32\source\ folder then its:

but then its the same error as at picture post #503

I dont know why INSTALL_WIM_TWEAK.EXE wont work??? Its the MAIN part, I cant go any further without it.

When you use install_wim_tweak.exe with the command prompt:

Take care to write properly the folder name: install_wim_tweak.exe /p C:\7xtreme32\mount /m .................. (and not 7extreme32!!)

And select the correct image: check if you have only one image Windows 7 Ultimate or 5 images inside your install.wim and adapt the batch to your needs!

Hello - taking my first crack at setting up a win7 lite based on the material in in this thread.

Was going through the instructions for 7elite64, however on doing step 10 "removal", i get nothing but errors.

I'm using win7 sp1 msdn. Im guessing the problem stems from the batch's being made for the non sp1 version. Is there a way to work around this ? Or is there an updated set of batch's that make this work ?

Another question is - can i perform this work on a Vista64 machine ? Or does this process require that I use a machine with windows 7 as the primary OS ?

In the past Ive done nlite'ing and vlite'ing, but im very new to working with win7 here. So any advice, instructions, etc are appreciated.

TY

Hello, guys,
this is my first post, so I'll try to stay as brief as possible (usually it gets very bloated).

I've played a bit with those 7lite and 7xtreme for more than a year now.
My observations:
7lite is wonderful, stable and most of the OS components are working properly. Unfortunately it is a bit oversized for my needs (I do not need IE8, and most of its components)
7xtreme is small, portable, very fast and lightweight. I've succesfully added PowerShell, Group Policy templates, some media codecs for DS, a DS player and a better Picture Viewer. ThinApped apps are working great, also. I am booting this one from a 4GB flash drive, from Differential VHD file, and I still have room for WinXPSP2 booting from IMG file.
However there's one very annoying bug that is bothering me:
When I try to add a new Bluetooth device, using the "Add a device" from the bluetooth tray icon, it is rendering me a message saying:
"Windows cannot complete the current operation. The following error code occurred [80004002]".
This only happens with the Ultimate edition of Win7 on both 7xtreme and 7lite.
When I am here: "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers", nothing is showing. At first the operation is loading forever, when I click on the red cross in the address bar, it is rendering an empty window.
I've preserved WIM and Spooler services, also the Scanner support and TPM engine, but nothing is fixing this.
As far as I know error 80004002 is given when there're an interface missing. This should be a DLL or something. I've traced all the dependencies and internal API calls of the ieproxy.dll and DeviceCenter.dll Nothing missing, and nothing wrong with those components.
Also when I am Clicking on Safety Remove hardware from Traybar, it is empty. No devices. Which is givin' me bread to thing that there's really a dll missing from the OS. But which one?
I am attaching my current Session for VLite.Attached File  Xtreme.ini   9.44KB   25 downloads

I've another question. but I think that this is not the right place to ask:
I saw in the MS tech documentation that it is possible to build PE edition using Win7 components. How far could we go using this approach. Because as a Linux fan and user/admin, for me makes much more sense to add components that we need, instead of removing them. (when we remove components it is possible to break up something, but when we add, we can decide what to add and how to add it).

I would like to add a small development on the first question:
It looks like that the Devices and Printers are closely dependent on Portable Device Enumerator Service, or WPDFBus.dll
After registering the Dinamic links and resources, the error message is changed to 80070002, which is corresponding to a missing service. Any clues?
Tried also to build a new image, including Portable Device Enumerator Support and service.
Still the same error message.
Also as I can see, the explorer.exe process is not loading DDORes.dll, although it is properly installed and existing in registry.

I'm using 7elite64 and imagex amd64 to cut down Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 Refresh Fix.

This Windows 7 Image is provided by http://www.wincert.n...p1-refresh-iso/

Also, I'm Using WAIK for Windows 7 (KB3AIK_EN) and vLite 1.2 Final

I get some (hell lot of) errors, don't know why. I'm doing this on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

Please Check the Uploaded CMD log file and point me my mistakes.
