Hi,
Ive frequented this board alot over the last couple years and I usually get the help I need by just reading post after post....so, I have an msi K7Tturbo. I'm running an AthlonTbird 1.2 and I just did find out I could possibly spend as little as 40 to 70 $$ on a msi K7T turbo-2.....that would allow me to go to 2.0Ghz. fastest compatable chip is supposed to be an AMD XP 2400+ or 2600+.

Im hoping someone could help me with picking out the best chip of the two, and also some advice on where I should buy this stuff.

http://store.yahoo.c...imssoc3701.html .see this link.

I called and they said on the phone that they had 10 of these boards, but they are like the ONLY place that has them and it sounds too good to be true.
When it comes to the chip I want to make sure I don't get a chip with an aluminum core right ?? Well, any advice or thoughts on this will be helpfull and appreciated.
My msi K7T has been a very good stable board. I figure I can almost double my cpu speed for around 150.00 or so.....what do you think?

Best overclocking chip is generally considered the XP 2500+ with the thoroughbred core, not barton core.

You can get the 2500's up pretty good just have adequate cooling. Not sure about your board though, I believe the current amd chips are locked and you have to OC using your bus which from what ive heard yields good results anyways and it's a lot easier.

I have a 2800+ and it OC's fairly well, but im not overclocker so im at stock speeds, i did however get it up to 3200 speeds without too much issue, but that was on air cooling and i don't wanna fry my chip just yet. Got a few months till i destroy it.

What about that vendor....Microexpress......?

Anybody hear of them before ?
Oh and thanks, techguy, and Supafly,,,,,Good ideas from both of you. I was trying to get around buying more memory though. One thing for sure, the msi K7T turbo 2 ver.5 gets nothing but great reviews and the fact that I can more than double my cpu just by swapping the board and chip,,,seems reasonable to me. But please keep making suggestions folks.
Thanks, Dak

hmm never heard of microexpress, but if you can find this board around, i have one and it's running great, and it supports the pc133 and ddr, so that's always a good thing
