HI! I am trying to add memory to an acer Travelmate 2441wxxci notebook and was getting errors, so now I am trying to reformat and getting the File\i386\system32\ntoskernl.exe could not be loaded error code 4 error. This system had only 256 memory with 2 memory slots, suppose to be able to upgrade with 2 1 gig sticks. If I just put in one stick, system is fine ... but when I put in that second gig, I start getting errors. IT boots up, when I click on my name, I get win32l.sys = address bf843499 base at bf8000000, datestamp 41107f7a and then it starts physical memory dump. That is when I decided maybe we need to reformat and got the system32 error. It doesn't matter if I use the Acer backup disk or my xp home service pack 2 disk. can anyone help me? The computer store said it could be the hard drive, or something else... and wants 150.00 to look at it.... not gonna happen! This system is about 2 years old but has not been used at all as the owner had passed away shortly after purchasing it. Thanks for any help! :hello:

If one stick works, and both do not. Try just using the second stick as your "one" stick and see if you still get errors. If you are lucky, maybe one of the sticks is bad.

Do NOT crosspost!
