GrofLuigi
MS stole source code of an GPLv2 application called ImageMasterhttp://www.withinwindows.com/2009/11/06/mi...oft-store-tool/Now they must publish source code of 7. GL
cluberti
There's a possibility that the original source was actually on MSDN, hence the investigation. However, initial review does show the source and the GPL'ed code being similar, but the origins of the GPL'ed code are in question, hence it appears the tool was pulled pending said investigation. I don't know what will come of it other than Microsoft will probably stop outsourcing tool development for awhile.
cluberti
Looks like code review did find violations of the GPL, and it looks like a re-release is coming under the GPL:http://port25.technet.com/archive/2009/11/...nload-tool.aspx

jaclaz
Looks like code review did find violations of the GPL, and it looks like a re-release is coming under the GPL:http://port25.technet.com/archive/2009/11/...nload-tool.aspxWe apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this has caused.Stupid pont maybe , but shoudn't they apologize also and mainly to the original Authors of the Code? I would also expect the apologizes to be on the actual page:http://store.microsoft.com/search.aspx?tsq=iso-toolwhere the "offending" tool was available, instead of on a (no offence intended ) lesser known blog.I mean, you publish on the Washington Post Site:http://www.washingtonpost.com/(say ) a complete lie like:MSFN sucks and is full of malicious code and usersand then you publish on (say ) the Peoria Journal Star (again, no offence intended )http://www.pjstar.com/We published a lie, sorry, we apologize to our readers.jaclaz

Sp0iLedBrAt
Also requires Image Mastering API (IMAPI) v.2.0 on install.Edit: after reading through jaclaz's post #30 and the official webpage, it states that apart from IMAPI v.2.0, .NET Framework 2 is also required for XP users.
