Hello,
I want to browse folders in D or C drive on a remote computer in my network using the ''\\...." in ''my computer'' adress bar. The remote computer has WIndows XP Professional and the other one has Vista ultimate. The thing is I have tried everything in my knowledge to do this, but I don't succeed.
The funny thing is that if I want to connect to the computer using Remote Desktop (mstsc) it connects wonderfully, but I can't use "\\ip\drive" it says that my password is incorrect.
So I have ping with the remote computer, I have ping with its name, I can connect to it using remote desktop from vista, I have disabled the windows firewall, I have disabled the antivirus, I just can;t do it.
Can someone please help me?
Thank you very much

same username and password (with admin group rights) on both boxes clears it up in our environment.
If you have the same UN and different passwords, that might not be helping the cause.

Networking between two pcs is a easy job. There can be a problem because of the user name and the password as asked in the post, i think it should be tried with the same user name and password.
- ← VPN network across two local networks
- Networks and the Internet
- Separate Internet connection for each app →
