Hi,

I am curious if I can replace the mobile Pentium 4 (socket 478) in my ThinkPad
with desktop Pentium 4 (socket 478). If so, has anyone done it and how easy was it?

I have never upgraded a laptop before but plenty of times for my desktops.

Thanks.

maybe a dead topic, but the answer is no.

mobile CPUs don't have an IHS, desktop processors do. the difference in the height of the CPU itself is different. you cannot interchange desktop for mobile in anything.
