the other NIC may have an integrated chip which processes some tasks in hardware, while the WLAN adapter uses the CPU more.

Because the ATI card causes the issue, contact the AMD/ATI support and tell them your results.

So basically I just have to accept that my WLAN card causes massive CPU load en DPC spikes :(

I'm still not happy with the Microsoft ACPI-compliant Control Method Battery device. It causes spikes like this:

What did you mean by "create a new PSS" ?

I mean a Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) call, if you have an issue with Windows. But as you found out is was an issue with your WLAN/ graphics card.

And what about the Microsoft ACPI-compliant Control Method Battery then?

I'm talking about this device:

It's causing the latency spikes I mentioned in my previous post. If I disable this device the spikes are gone, but then the battery icon in the task bar tray is also gone and I can't find out how much battery life I have got left.

For the Microsoft ACPI-compliant Control Method Battery issue you should try to contact the MS support. I don't know why it causes the spikes.

Andre,

You mentioned my system interrupts was a DirectX/video driver issue. I've tried every driver offered for my graphics card without any improvement. Should I try and change the version of DirectX used?

You also mentioned USBPort causing a lot of the problems, but the only USB port I'm using is for a wireless mouse/keyboard and the problem was occuring before I installed the wireless mouse/keyboard as well.

You can't change DirectX in Windows Vista/7. Those DirectX DLLs are used for Windows Aero Glass. Which driver are you using for your Intel® GMA X4500? A driver directly from Intel or a modified driver form your PC maker?

Sorry for my lack of computer knowledge...didn't know u couldn't change DirectX version/drivers.

I am using the modified driver from the PC maker. I tried every driver available from Intel without luck. They only had multimedia driver updates available (not just video) and when I tried an update I lost all audio function from the chipset. However, I was looking for updates for the Intel G43 Chip...I think that's what is listed by Gateway as in my machine. But I think most drivers are the same for both these chips, but maybe I am wrong.

However today I just noticed this driver available when searching for the GMA X4500:

I'll give it a shot later today.

I ran your guide and after some picking and poking I found out that is the ACPI.sys thats tearing my pc apart.

Could someone help me with the next step please :=)

What's your hardware? Please make sure you're using the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.

Can anyone help me cypher my interrupt storm analysis? Windows 7 Pro.

They look like Windows system drivers causing it, what should I do?

the dx.sys is related to your graphics card. Which graphics card do you use? make sure you are using the latest drivers! nDIS.sys is part of the networking functionality of Windows. So make sure that you use the latest network card drivers. The 3rd driver belongs to your sound card. Which one do you use? The 4th driver is the USB port driver. Have you installed the chipset drivers for your mainboard? which USb devices do you use?

I have tried newer drivers, but it seems to make the problem worse or no better, right now it may not do it for weeks, then when it does act up it seems like it does it for several days, rebooting several times today, then its back to normal. I have tried to notice if I am doing anything different on those istorm days, but cannot correlate anything, I don't do much but surf and email, analyze a few minidumps occasionally.

I shut down the PC every night.

All I can do I guess is try the latest drivers again, maybe there are newer versions.

I am beginning to think it is a Windows 7 bug running on this particular hardware, just won't play nice together.

I don't see anything new in the trace which helps you. Please Contact the MSI support and tell them about it.

Hi! Sorry for the slow response, been away.

I've got the latest chipset drivers but I'm very unsure about the BIOS.

I'm running: Gigabyte p35c-ds3r rev 2.1

so i've been checking around on gigabytes site but the only BIOS related things are helping programs.

No direct updates / new versions...

please help :=)

I was running F8 :P

downloading F12 now

edit..couldnt find a F12 that works with 64bit =/

contacted gigabyte about it though

I followed this and got an Unknown process with a bunch of functions like 0x85f9aa18 taking up a lot of CPU Usage... need help deciphering this :/ I tried PMing you MagicAndre but your inbox is full. Here's a capture tho:

The unknown module, if it has an offset starting at 0x8xxxxxxx, is a kernel mode driver.

The reason I reached this website was because a process called System (description: NT Kernel & System) was using around 30% of my CPU during really CPU intensive parts of work, meaning my computer locked up or ran really slow. Only been happening in the last week or so (I reformatted a couple months ago to get rid of the W7 RC) :/ running W7 32bit, not sure if this helps.
