ataport.SYS!AtaPortReadPortUchar is causing the high ISR usage. Run your HDDs in AHCI mode instead of IDE to fix this.

ok, nice to hear this :) If you have issues again, ask again.

And tomorrow we will beat Malaga at the Champions League. Deal?

Hey,

I am having audio crackling/stuttering issues on my computer. Specs are below as well as the link to download the DPC_Interrupt.etl file:

CPU: Intel i5 2500K
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 - Latest BIOS version 3603
RAM: 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 Corsair RAM 1.5v
Graphics: nVidia GTX 560Ti 1GB
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG
Storage: Samsung 830 128GB SSD + Crucial M4 64GB SSD + 2TB HDD

File link: http://www.mediafire...5l186ufsv8cc6ij

AFAIK, I have the latest BIOS version, nVidia drivers, Xonar DG drivers as well as having all Windows Updates installed. No viruses or malware either.

EDIT: Never mind, turns out Malwarebytes was the culprit (Had the trial of the Pro version that constantly runs in the taskbar, not sure if the regular version does the same thing?)

Clearly sptd.sys is the problem. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it?

update the BIOS to 5206 and try to use the GPU in the 2nd PCIe x16 slot (no matter what is written in the manual). if you don't play games, you can also remvoe the 9800 completely and use the HD7540d which is included in the AMD CPU.

I didn't forget about this! I just got caught up in the middle of a project and didn't want to risk boot problems before I was done if updating the BIOS went south. I'm going to try the BIOS update first, because I do play games so the on-board Radeon isn't really an option. I will move the cards around as a last resort, mainly because I'm worried that moving the video card lower will give it less airflow.

Anyway, I'll do another xperf trace after updating the BIOS and PM it to you. :)

Thanks, hopefully I don't need it for anything ;)

The nusb3xhc.sys (Reneas USB3 Host Controller Driver) also seems to be a problem, causing latency up to 500us and execution time of 0.5 but I think that might only happen when actually transferring files to/from a USB3 stick plugged in, so I can live with that if so.

EDIT: Whilst it hovers around 20-40 a lot of the time now, it still spikes to 100 and even 400-500 quite regularly. Note that storport.sys only appeared at the top of the list after I launched Iron, which has about 30 tabs open in it.

here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Windows Performance Toolkit

everything under 1000µs is not really critical.

my cpu usage still 100% what should i do i followed the all the steps.. i already update my bios and chipset drivers...

upload the generated .ETL file (compresed as zip/RAR/7z) if you're unsure.

OK cool, I thought I recalled reading somewhere that it should ideally stay around 20-30 but nevermind :)

you get periodic ISR/DPC spikes caused by the driver nvm62x64.SYS. So update the NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet driver and see if this helps.

Hmm, what about this then? The latency's still under 1000 but isn't the high DPC execution time of storport.sys a problem?

upload the ETL file

Strangely, after installing the Net Framework 4.5 and the Performance Toolkit, it didn't automatically add the path so I had to add "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Windows Performance Toolkit" manually so that I could run xperf without having to go into that directory each time.

Then I got this

C:\Windows>xperf -on latency -stackwalk profile -buffersize 1024 -MaxFile 256 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d DPC_Interrupt.etl

xperf: warning: This system is not fully configured for x64 stack tracing.
Please modify the registry under:

  HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

and set the value:

  DisablePagingExecutive (REG_DWORD) = 1

Then reboot before retrying tracing.

Note: Tracing has been enabled, this is just a warning.
xperf: error: NT Kernel Logger: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0xb7).

I don't recall either of these problems before but maybe I already had DisablePagingExecutive set then. I fixed the "cannot create file" with "xperf -stop" although I'm not sure why it happened when this was the first time I'd run xperf since installing it. I got it to start after that but then when I pressed a key to make the file I got

Press any key to continue ...
xperf: error: NT Kernel Logger: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider. (0x1069).

but then I tried again and it's worked on several runs now so it looks like that was just a first time glitch.

The BIOS update doesn't seem to have fixed anything.

Do you have glitches?

yeah, you have again spikes:

Total = 7117 for module tcpip.sys
Elapsed Time, >     4096 usecs AND <=     8192 usecs,      0, or   0.00%
Elapsed Time, >     8192 usecs AND <=    16384 usecs,      8, or   0.11%
Total,                                                  7117

Have you tried it without the discrete GPU?

Do you mean moving the card around? I need the GeForce for the games I play. The onboard video is of no use for games.
