Found non-existing update(s) for Internet Explorer 8

----------------------------------------------------

not found (O): HF\WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-ENU.exe (Empty dialog when opening 'Organize Favorites' from Windows Explorer)

IE8-WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-ENU.exe exists but NOT WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-ENU.exe

Found non-existing update(s) for Windows XP SP3

----------------------------------------------------

not found (O): HF\msxml6-KB973686-ENU-x86.exe (Update for MSXML Core Services 6.0 SP2)

Does it replace 973687?

or

973687 replaces 973686?

IE8-WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-ENU.exe exists but NOT WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-ENU.exe
the shdocvw.dll from WindowsXP-KB2510581-x86-XXX.exe fixes Empty dialog when opening “Organize Favorites” from Windows Explorer 8

As an alternative you can extract the shdocvw.dll from WindowsXP-KB2510581-x86-XXX.exe (SP3GDR), compress it with makecab.exe to shdocvw.dl_ and place it to REPLACE\I386.

Optional, if you do not use favorites or add to favorites, is not necessary in windows internet explorer 8. If you surf the internet with any other browser, is not needed.

the optional KB973686 replaces the high-priority KB973687

The file checker is looking for WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-XXX.exe, while its original name is IE8-WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-XXX.exe.

Did you set in the filechecker-ini OPTIONAL=1? Then it's correct.

See here: table 4 (optional updates for IE) and here: KB972582 amd here: MSFN (HFSLIP) and here: MSFN (FC)

Or 4 postings above this posting (from maxfutur)

:)

In case that this really is a bug I need more infos, e.g. your ini.

Oh, my bad, I missed the fact that they both exist.

Is there a separate topic for the hfslipo2003?

Btw, thx for the links to the bulletins, Maxfutur, although several of 'em are wrong (I mean the description you put doesn't match the actual contents of the bulletins), sometimes they don't even apply to winXP. I guess M$ changed bulletin numbers at some point.

(example: bulletin 5)

Mimo, got a question for ya...In one article, it says that 956803 is replaced by 2503665, but we've already replaced 956803 with a newer advisor, what should we do?

does 2503665 also replace the one used to replace 956803? I believe it also updatd other files (not only the ones in 956803).

Just a thought...

bye!
