...
What more do you need to change its status to optional?

:blushing: ...

I'm thinking about the INI-setting for the file-checker, where you can set ADVISORIES=0/1. The expectation should be that all missing advisories will be reported.

But I agree, a non-high-priority advisory should be handled in another way than a high-priority advisory.

But on the other side, it's not bad when you replace existing files with the files from KB2264107, because you need to activate the new functionality in the registry.

My idea now is, to make it more prominent that KB2264107 is optional (but leave it still as advisory in the file-checker):
  • add a remark in the update-list, that this is optional,
  • add a remark in the update-name (file-checker) were you can see that this update is optional when this update will be reported as missing.
  • add an additional hint for this update (file-checker) were you can see that this update is optional when this update was found in HF
Is it a passable compromise?

Yeah, that seems passable.
I think it should be tagged "optional", the script shouldn't flag it as "missing" when it's not present in HF and IF it is present, then it should display a warning about it and a tip that it needs to be activated via the registry...

I also think this one should be handled separately to other advisories. This is a special one.
IF advisories=0, then other useful advisories might be left out...

just my $2c

bye!

I noticed today HFSLIP does not copy the kb942288-v3.cat file to the SVCPACK directory when integrating Windows Installer 4.5.

I have added the following line:

IF EXIST TEMP\UPDATE\*.cat MOVE/Y TEMP\UPDATE\*.cat WORK\SVCPACK

near the end of the :MSI45 section of HFSLIP to fix the signature verification of msiexec.exe and some other dll files.

The only file that does not have a signature is msisip.dll. Searching for a solution online I found some suggestions to replace the cat file with the one from the english hotfix.

It seems Microsoft has replaced this update online with an international version, and this workaround likely does not work anymore.

Has anyone more information about this?

2809289 replace 2817183 (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP)
956744 replace 2813345 (Remote Desktop Connection 6.1 Client)
2483614 replace 2813347 (Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 Client)
2799494 replace 2813170
2621146 replace 2772930 (Active Directory)
2646524 replace 2820917
2778344 replace 2808735
2626416 yerine 2801109 (Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM))

Please use the right grammar tense of the verbs. Or your meaning will be reversed.
For example 2809289 is replaced by 2817183
not "2809289 replaces 2817183".

Also, I correct a few errors:
2801109 (Active Directory Application Mode) is not part of stock XP, so you don't need to install it unless you installed ADAM for some reason.
2772930 is not needed for Windows XP. (MS doesn't offer the update for XP.)

EDIT: Here's one more. KB2797052 (vgx.dll) is also replaced by KB2817183 (IE security update).

For people who are confused, here is a summary:
April 2013 Patch Tuesday

KB2813347 | MS13-029 | mstsc (RDC7.0) | 38281 | Replaces KB2483614 (MS11-017)

KB2820917 | MS13-033 | csrss (winsrv.dll) | 38299 | Replaces KB2646524 (MS12-003)

Hi guys, thx for your help! :)

Now, we just wait for mimo to update the FC.

Coming shortly... ;)

BTW, 2813347 isn't required. Only 2813345.

In case that you stay at RDC6. When integration RDC7 you should use 2813347.

@ rulman:
I apologize if you (rulman) get offended because of this. I didn't mean any offense when I corrected your English.

Oh, another thing. The FC is asking for 2797052 (Ie8). this one is NOT NEEDED. it is replaced (along with the previous cum. update) by the latest cum. update.

bye!

Security Update for Windows XP (KB2801109)

As -X- already said, ADAM is not part of a plain Windows XP. :)

OBS: The checker should NOT ask for 2813347 if RDC7 is not used (just in case)

Yes of course, still like the previous RDC-updates ;)

Oh, another thing. The FC is asking for 2797052 (Ie8). this one is NOT NEEDED. it is replaced (along with the previous cum. update) by the latest cum. update.

Oh, you're right! In the prevoius cum. IE updates, the vgx.dll was never included. But in the latest update it is included!
Thx for repoting this - I remove 2797052 (MS13-010: Vector Markup Language) rem the update-list and file-checker! :)

everything is OK when I install my cd with iso and WU is happy.. but when I install my xp via USB with made "WinSetupFromUSB_1-0-beta9_rc4", WU asks to install "KB2798897(rvkroots.exe)".. I use hfslip-1.7.10_beta_J_v11.cmd.

Well, obviously something is getting screwed up in the making of the usb bootable drive.
Update the tool you use, try a different one or check your usb drive (it might have a problem)

Last time when I made my iso and usb xp cd was February and at that time there was nothing wrong. All the tools and cmd files are the same. anyway, I put rvkroots.exe in HVSVCPACK folder and it seems OK..:)
