With your new extension I'm getting KB941569 missing. I have wmp11 in the ini file. You said it only necessary for wmp9.
You're faster than me... :D: That's what I want to post now!

Yesterday, after uploading and shutting-down the computer I noticed that I've forgotton the remark KB941569 with the hint that's it's needed only in combination with WMP9. And the file-checker is the same what you see in my list. I have also to 'mark' KB941569 in the FC with WMP9.

Today I'll uploading it again.

Btw... KB941569 should only be listet as missing when wmfdist95.exe was found. And if you select WMP11 and use wmfdist95.exe, wmfdist95.exe should be listet as 'wrong'.

CU, Mimo

That's another thing I've fixed! This type of dependency was not handled correctly when searching for mssing updates (it just works if existing updates are checked for wrong/obsolete). :blushing:

Mim0, KB967715 doesn't get replaced. It adds the following reg entry. If you delete it from the registry, KB967715 reappears on WU.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]
"HonorAutoRunSetting"=dword:00000001

Mim0, could you add a check for obsolate items in the ignore list? Maybe something like this: The ignore for WindowsXP-KB967715-x86.reg is obsolete.
And could it be possible to log what have been ignored?

Hi NLZ, if I understood it right, the file-checker shall check if there are entries in the ignore-list which are unneeded, because the corresponding update is now obsolete?

To log missing updates which are not reported as missing because they are on the ignore-list?

Yes, if possible.

No, I mean it lists those updates that would have been checked, but left out because the ignore. So you wouldn't miss an update unintentionally because a wrongly configured ignore list.

And the link for opuc4.cab and IEAWSDC.CAB is broken.

Isn't it the same?

Example:

Quote

Conditions:
- HF\abc.exe is expected (because it's an active update) but missing (the file abc.exe is not in HF)
- The ignore-list contains abc.exe, the missing update will not be reported as missing

Reaction:
write a log-message like that: Expected HF\abc.exe is missing, but it's no prob, because it's on the ignore-list

Or do you just mean to log the complete ignore-list?

New update-list for XP:
2010-08-03
- Added: WindowsXP-KB2286198-x86.reg to add the registry-entry
"HonorAutorunSetting" which is previously done by KB967715.

Thx to -X-

Mimo, regarding KB967715:

If it is not replaced by KB2286198, it should NOT be flagged as "obsolete" if honorautorunsetting.reg is not present. You can't have it both ways.

bye!

The reg-file I've added for KB2286198 is doing the HonorAutorunSetting.

KB2286198+HonorAutorunSetting replaces KB967715

So, there's no need for KB967715 anymore.

yes, but if the reg file isn't there, then 967715 is still required, that's what I meant.

Oh, and BTW, be careful with the msxml 3 & 6 updates. There's a new update for msxml3 that replaces kb955069, but we were using 973687 for both msxml3 and msxml6 (replacing 955069 & 954459). So, if you remove 973687, then 954459 comes back in (unless, of course, there is a newer update for both, something like 973687, but newer)

bye!

973686 can replace 973687. It's basically the same hotfix as 973687, but doesn't include MSXML3.

that's a nice tip.
I rebuilt my cd with 954459, but without 973687 and with all the new updates and wu was 100% happy.
using 973686 should do the trick and keep msxml6 updated to the latest version.

bye!
