Microsoft is intending to release on May 10, 2011.

The full version of the Microsoft Security Bulletin Advance
Notification for May 2011 can be found at
http://www.microsoft.../ms11-may.mspx.

Microsoft also provides information to help customers prioritize
monthly security updates with any non-security, high-priority
updates that are being released on the same day as the monthly

This advance notification provides a number as the
bulletin identifier, because the official Microsoft Security
Bulletin numbers are not issued until release. The bulletin summary

Does it replace 973687?
or
973687 replaces 973686?

the shdocvw.dll from WindowsXP-KB2510581-x86-XXX.exe fixes Empty dialog when opening “Organize Favorites” from Windows Explorer 8

As an alternative you can extract the shdocvw.dll from WindowsXP-KB2510581-x86-XXX.exe (SP3GDR), compress it with makecab.exe to shdocvw.dl_ and place it to REPLACE\I386.

Optional, if you do not use favorites or add to favorites, is not necessary in windows internet explorer 8. If you surf the internet with any other browser, is not needed.

the optional KB973686 replaces the high-priority KB973687

The file checker is looking for WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-XXX.exe, while its original name is IE8-WindowsXP-KB2497640-x86-XXX.exe.

Did you set in the filechecker-ini OPTIONAL=1? Then it's correct.

See here: table 4 (optional updates for IE) and here: KB972582 amd here: MSFN (HFSLIP) and here: MSFN (FC)

Or 4 postings above this posting (from maxfutur)

:)

In case that this really is a bug I need more infos, e.g. your ini.
