I don't recall making a 0.9.9... would be interesting to see :rolleyes:

The download link in the first post points to 1.2 now.
I figured out the problem... I had 1.2 as XPinstall.zip, and 1.1 as xpinstall.zip. The wonders of case-sensitive filenames :)

EDIT: The easiest way to tell what version it is is by doing a file properties on it, and selecting the version tab.

gotta say, THIS IS NICE, improves over the old install routine of just waiting and watching the progress bar move.

Feature request...
If possible, add some parameters to change the height en with and make it movable over the desktop. On screens with a 800-600 resolution it seems so big…
As I said earlier in a reply, I have little to wish for.
GOOD JOB…

Yep, yep, that's coming later. I figured I should get the problems done first, as well as things that would make it easier. Sizing wasn't really needed, it's just a bonus, so it wasn't high on my priority list. I'll see what I can do tho.

I don't particularly want to make it movable, but if others want it, I will add it.

As a sidenote, you SHOULD be able to post things on the bugtracker now. Someone willing to give it a test? :)

I say!

Got v1.3

BTW, wraith, would %SOURCEPATH% point to the I386 folder on the CD, or to the XP cd's root ?

Added "Complete" string support

I don't understand what it means. Could you explain that please?

%SOURCEPATH% is read from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\SourcePath

Checking it now, it's "G:\" on this, so it SHOULD be without the I386.
Again, I haven't tested to see if this value has been written to by T-13 or T-9, so I'm not entirely sure if it'll work.

%XPINSTALL% should work regardless though.

See the "XX% complete" on the bottom left? The "complete" string replaces the complete with whatever you set in the XML. I did this mainly for language portability.

Well, 1.3 "feels" more polished.
My vote says don't put in movable window (or atleast have an option in the xml to run it totally devoid of UI input elements - I'm satisfied and my purpose is served if it is seen - that's all that's needed. In the environments where I work, its better that the user doesn't interact while it's running. Let it be just like the normal XP setup - you can't interrupt or interfere with it while it's running, left-clicking/right-clicking the mouse also has no effect).

Whoa! that's really cool. I'll use that this time in VMware.

@visaversa -
seems that the app switches are changed just a bit-
extract both the files to one folder and run "XPinstall.exe :XPinstall.xml" (without the quotes, of course).

@wraith -
I haven't looked into v1.2, but 1.3 doesn't seem to auto-search for the xml in its own folder. This might complicate things for some of the newbies who may want to have a clean,quick play-around with it.

I know that this is a bit off, but here's a feature request:

probably, a 5 second flashing text at the end of the processes (that says in large font text and covers the space between the bars above and below) ALL SCHEDULED OPERATIONS DONE

My other request might be a long-term goal :
I see that the "cursor" stays in one place while the rest of the text keeps scrolling.
Maybe it could reach the bottom of the list, then the "page" of tasks go one page up and the "cursor" starts travelling downward once again. Possible ?

Working on this now, as well as changing the number of items. They pretty much go hand-in-hand.

I'm thinking have a stt number of items before the current one, and a set number of items after the current one. If there isn't enough items to fill the count before, it'll move down while installing items until it gets to the right amount. It'll stay there until there isn't enough to fill down to the bottom, then the current one would start moving again.

Hmm. That's a bit convoluted.

Say I allow 4 items on screen at one time, one before the current, and two afterward. If there's 6 items,

Shouldn't need an alternate - mine should be up permanently, and it's on a 10Mb pipe. :)

Link will ALWAYS be on the first post.

Oh well. my hosting may not compete but the files can stay there for now :)
Any ideas on when v1.4 will arrive? by the sounds of it - it will be a big one.

A while - just adding a small thing to make it so certain windows aren't shown when executed.

Add this to the XML

 <item name='Adding users'>
 	 <file name='Adding User "Test"...' program='net' arguments='user Test pass /add'></file>
 	 <file name='Configuring User "Test"...' program='net' arguments='localgroup Administrators Test /add'></file>
  </item>

And you'll see what I mean.

I'll probably just add an optional hide='true'.

EDIT:

Okay, that's added to upcoming 1.4, spose it will allow batch files to run silently now too. Might make some people happy :)

 <item name='Adding users'>
 	 <file name='Adding User "Test"...' program='net' arguments='user Test pass /add' hide='true'></file>
 	 <file name='Configuring User "Test"...' program='net' arguments='localgroup Administrators Test /add' hide='true'></file>
  </item>
