I tried the way it says in the tutorial/guide thing, but it doesn't work.

The latest version of CDShell doesn't come with the convert tool.
I had to find an older version, and steal that one.

I then made a 640x480 @ 24bit BMP (came out to like 900KB).
Used the convert to convert it to CSI. It converted.

I renamed the original splash.bmp/splash.csi to *.org
I renamed the new ones to splash.bmp and splash.csi.
Left them in the graphics folder.

Built the image, tested in VMWare.

Nothing.

Is 900KB too big? Or what?

size sounds about right.

convert tool is in the "tools" folder.
try to delete original splash screens and make no references to the splash in your script. it should be detected automatically. some older graphics cards/mobo's can't display splashes as well.

I noticed the same issue with VMWARE. The image was not used, instead reverting back to the original CD SHELL screen. Then when I burned my image to DVD, my splash screen is shown instead... I left it at that...

Ugh? Are you 2 sure that you did everything correctly? I also changed my logo and NEVER experienced any problems using the converting-tool included in the cdshell package...

make sure you delete both the bmp and the csi file, and then put your bmp and csi file in the directory, make sure that the bmp is 24 bit windows, size does not matter. I have one that is 2 megs

See.. In VMWARE it didn't revert to tbe normal one..
it just went straight to the my menu.

i'll try it again..this time completely removing the original splash files (even though they were renamed)

you may want to consider reanimatalogs Showgif module for cdshell as a substitute for csi if still having problems. D/l the bcdw 1.5e version. & read the incl'd faq for useage.
showgif is widely supported and allows even animated gifs. (Lots of gif and anims can cause cd thrashing or slower load times. you have been warned :) (i just use one color rich gif as background and add or remove smaller gifs as needed to keep things speedy. They look great however and they have displayed without flaw so far on several csi stubborn comps.

well i did it again..
and again in VMWARE it just goes straight to the menu..

but i burnt a test CDR...and sure enough.iit worked.

burnt the DVDRW...and it worked.

I guess VMWARE just can't hack it?

Come to think of it, sometimes the generic CD SHELL screen was seen and sometimes nothing at all. I'm not going to spend anymore time (I should say any time at all... its not an important issue for me by any means) debugging, but if someone does know the root cause, please post. Glad to see your screen is showing on the final product!

Found it at last...it was because of "\C" tags...you can't use color without background...meaning that only \CXX i \Cxx are ok (text and bold color) if you don't have graphics dir,or maybe it's another of vmware bugs because i never tested that corrupted menu on real system.
