mikemac
Hello,Is there any way that a program that is dependent on a 32bit driver can be installed on Windows xp pro x64? Thanks, mikemac
cluberti
If a 32bit app requires a 32bit driver, like a filter driver (antivirus, firewall, security software, etc), then no, this is not possible. You cannot load a 32bit kernel driver on a 64bit system.
mikemac
Thanks for the quick reply. So if the user is using XP Pro x64, my only option is to set up the pc as a dual boot, with both xp pro and xp 64 as the operating systems. And if so, is it better to set the op systems on seperate partitions on the same hard drive? Or on separate drives?
cluberti
If you have a 32bit app, it would be better to find the native x64 version (if it exists) or use something compatible if possible. If you absolutely must have the 32bit app, you could consider a virtual machine rather than a dual-boot.
