I'm new to nlite, but am really impressed with it. My problem is I have xp pro sp3 and when I build an nlite disk with the xp sp3 with the post updates for sp3 it integrates them ok. Once the didk is made an I try to install it does fine but when it gets to the windows please wait splash screen just before heading to the desktop it freezes. If I shut down at this point and restart it continues on to my desktop no problem. Just wondering if someone knows what is my problem an if there is a fix. tyvm!

My build was missing two of the kb's---kb954155---kb968816--- Like I said new, I already deleted my last session info. Going to go and add them two, run iy again. Will report back my results and last session then--Thanks again.

I was asking because you CANT add those updates as they come from MS. They will cause the symptom you describe in addition to WMP not working. You need to use my add-ons. See this thread.


A copy of last session.ini is usually saved to the root of the CD. Also, nLite folder\Presets.

Ok, I should have waited for your reply, I added the other two same problem. I guess I need to take all 4 of them out. My most recent last session is posted below. (As you can see I gathered all the post sp3 updates myself.)

hi! as i see you use default wmp10 & .net, try to use these addons both courtesy of yumeyao: for .net: .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 FULL / 2.0 SP2 20091024 & for wmp10: [Addon] Windows Media Player 10 for XP/MCE/2k3 ... try cross-referencing your hotfixes with -X-'s post sp3 update list

As I said, just replace them with my add-ons. They are listed on my page and will have the same filename with a .cab extension.

From a cursory glance there are some peculiarities in your update list. You have NDP20SP2-KB974417-x86.exe and NDP35SP1-KB963707-x86.exe. These are updates for .NET Framework but I don't see .NET Framework in your list. I'm not sure nLite can even handle these types of updates. You also have WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB963093-x86-ENU.exe which is for Windows Search but you don't have that installed.

I would remove those 3 updates. You might want to throw my Updates Downloader and Checker (UDC-01.21.10.zip) into your updates folder and run the batch file. It will scan for any missing updates and remove any obsolete ones (but not weird ones like those above).

-X-, KiKi, Just wanting you to know I ran the batch file as you suggested and also as KiK suggestedi I checked your list and made a new disk. I got past the splash screen fine and it worked great. Thanks KiKi for the net framework and wmp tip. I'll be heading over to the nlite forum where this thread belonged to get a few more tips. I am absolutely amazed, really powerful stuff.
