Not checked what virus this is yet, you can bet it is though.

I downloaded the zip to desktop, RIGHT clicked and extracted it. inside was as expected:

Now, you see a prime example of why i always insist:
in folder options, go to view, and untick "hide extensions for known file types"

What a stupid "feature" from MS. now, the icon is badly done, but imagine if it was well made and i had no idea where the file came from and had hide extensions turned on.

It would look just like a text file and you would click on it and run it!

the new norton update finds them
so go to live update and update your stuff
as a reminder don't open any attachments especially when the subject lines are obvious and when the body contains stupid letters and etc...

ive dissasembled the attachment.

inside is a word list to create senders emails out of, list of names, domains, and suffixes including .gov .mil .com etc.

Theres only 3 error messages, as follows:

"The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment."

"The Message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII and has been sent as a binary attachment"

"Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available."

The hahaha email was w95hybris worm, too easy to spot.

ill look at it more closely when i get time.

I am so lucky I have not had one of these yet and also lucky I have had none for months. :)

FthrJack, I see you have the same desktop theme colour as moi?

I agree about the hide Known File Types extension. I always untick the silly thing.

heh heh ........
this is one reason why webmail is better.

:crying: but why does POP3 access have to score above webmail in many ways ...... :crying:

I don't like webmail it sucks!
oe and outlook all the way :)

why do u think webmail is better???

outlook has the ability to block .exe .bat .pif .scr by default. it doesn't open them right away.
also if u have norton or any a-v programs its easy (of course liveupdate!)

man I had to do that to my uncle's computer. they kept on getting viruses and annoying me to fix their probs.... "I clicked on a zip file that didnt open", or good ol' "it looked like a word document to me"!! NO SH!1 SHERLOCK!

I agree, always be able to see the xtensions of everything you click on.

not to mention i did it on my mom's profile in my pc....can never be too careful even with the latest virus definitions.

fthrJACK i agree.. its the bodgyist idea.. sure.. it looks pretty without the extension... so the normal user is happy... but ive had both those viruses.. and im sure my sister would have opened them if it hadnt had the extension there..
