After making a slipstreaming a new CD successfully (Dell Recovery CD adding SP3) I wanted go back and see what all the nice options do within nLite. I noticed that when I ran the program again, that there was a serial number entered. Since I did not enter one and it was not the same as the one on the side of the Dell PC I was wondering is this number came from the original Dell Recovery CD and was a "dell Default" for installation?

Just want to make sure it did not pick up the serial number off of the machine that was making the slipstream CD.

stardotstar, OK, I'll give it a shot. What do you mean by "serial number" - CD key? Where are you seeing it? NLite does not copy the key from the CD. The key along with a lot of other information is copied from the Last Session.ini and the Last Session_u.ini files. The key is stored in the _u.ini file (it should not be posted here). Where did your Last Session files come from? BTW, you do not want to run nLite against a folder that has already had nLite run against it. Always start with a fresh copy of the original CD files/folders. Enjoy, John.

Yes the product key. My last session was my first attempt that I made. Yes, I did run nlite and reference back to the original folder where nlite placed all of the dell recovery files and I assume the sp3 that it captures.

Then as I looked forward from the "task selection" and under "unattended" I see a product key. I was wondering where that came from.

Yes it does.
When you don't select "unattended", nLite leaves that part untouched. If the original cd is unattended, the result is unattended as well. And the key comes from the CD. For your info, stardotstar, that key will only work on a Dell motherboard as it is checked versus some files (oem files) on the CD and the Bios.
