I made a Vista Ultimate disc and it will not boot. Is there a specific setting I need or a specific name for the disc?

Welcome aboard.
One of the best ways to make sure the DVD is bootable is to create a bootable ISO and burn it to a DVD. There are plenty of free programs to do that.
Did you use the "Direct Burn" option?
