Thank you for the new release today, Parseus :)

I have a few comments & suggestions:

missing (S): HFCABS\SCRIPTEN.CAB (IE install files)

This one is not necessary if script 5.6/5.7/5.8 is used.

missing (S): HF\IE6.0sp1-KB982381-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe

Superseded by 2416400.

missing (S): HF\Windows2000-KB975713-x86-ENU.EXE

Not needed if 982381 (both ie5 or ie6) or 2416400 is used.

missing (S): HF\Windows2000-KB976323-x86-ENU.EXE

This one is likely to be buggy (see bristols' list).

not found (F): HF\Windows2000-KB822834-x86-ENU.EXE

Obsolete.

not found (F): HF\Windows2000-KB838417-x86-ENU.EXE

This hotfix is buggy. Would it be a problem to point it out somewhere in the log? I'm not using it on purpose.

not found (F): HF\Windows2000-KB840129-x86-ENU.EXE

Not present on bristols' list (?)

not found (F): HF\Windows2000-KB884872-x86-ENU.EXE

This hotfix can't be slipstreamed (and installed) properly (details), neither from HF nor HFSVCPACK_SW1. I plan do make a fixed version sometime but now it's unusable.

not found (F): HF\Windows2000-KB983458-x86-ENU.EXE

Superseded by 2511455

not found (U): HFSVCPACK_SW1\Windows2000-XPSWIC-x86-Global.exe

This one is still quite experimental. I plan to make separate packages instead of one big package.

not found (U): HF\Q886677.exe

Likely to be buggy (see bristols' list).

obsolete: HF\IE6.0sp1-KB834158-x86-ENU.exe

Why obsolete?

unknown: HF\Windows2000-KB841029-x86-ENU.EXE
unknown: HF\Windows2000-KB901377-x86-ENU.EXE

Why are these two unknown?

wrong (O): HF\wmp6cdcs.exe (WMP 6.4 codecs, it's for WMP6)

I'm not 100% sure about this one but can't these codecs be slipstreamed regardless of whether WMP9 is used or not?

missing (S): HFSVCPACK_SW1\Windows2000-DirectX9-KB975560-x86-ENU.exe
not found (O): HF\directx_feb2010_redist.exe

I know I shouldn't ask for it ;) but would it be a problem to include DX9.0c Full Pack? It has all of these updates included and newer libraries from DX9.0c Jun2010 are used in it.

Thank you once again for keeping this updated and still going on :thumbup

Fixed - I made a typo there, so FC didn't recognize obsoletion by KB2416400.

Dumb typo - it should be KB841029. Fixed.

It's already superseded by your multilanguage v2 version.

The first one was a dumb typo, as I wrote earlier. The second one I didn't add earlier for some reason.

I guess slipstreaming both 6.4 and 9 codecs shouldn't hurt.

Thanks Parseus :)

I still have some problems:

obsolete: HF\Windows2000-UU-KBz2511455-v2-x86-Global.exe (MS11-019: SMB client, Applicable only with KB980232)

I added my version of 2511455 and the result is like this. My 2511455-v2 replaces both 983458 & 980232.

missing (S): HFSVCPACK_SW1\Windows2000-DirectX9-KB975560-x86-ENU.exe (MS10-013: Quartz)
not found (U): HF\Windows2000-DirectX9-KB975560-v2-x86-ENU.exe (MS10-013: Quartz (corrected version))

These updates are covered by DX9c Full Pack.

obsolete: HF\IE6.0sp1-KB834158-x86-ENU.exe

Why is it so?

Hmm, it's working for me - did you include the registry fix in HFSVCPACK folder?

13-Sept-2012

I have just stumbled upon your site. I too am in the process of trying to make Installation media for Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 and upgrade all updates that are possible. I am also keen to hang on to access to Windows Update which in my attempts I have lost. What I do know is that if I start with SP4 and manually install iE6 and then the updates from my working system in the reverse order from the list in Windows update on the working system then all is well eventually.

All of this is trial and error and it takes for ever to complete I stil don't have an install for

1 Windows media Player 9 or 11
2 Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 ( update to SP1 requires it)

I'll attach my script file that i used to install the updates. Further to this I found an install to DirectX and also that the foullow updates could be applied

KB980858 971032 952068 942831 891861 926247 926121 917537.

I wish there was a page for Windows 2000 like the one for XP ---> http://mimo.zxq.net/updatelist.htm

i haven't tried HFSLIP yet althought i have downloaded the latest beta version.

any advise would begratefully received

Thank You

Neill

I think that you haven't done too much research on the topic... :angel

It is true that I have not done enough productive research. However I have tried and spent quite a good deal of time trying to follow others instructions . For example I am told I need a few files and that I should use HFSLIP and then nLite.

The table shows all required files.
Program Folder Filename Notes
HFSLIP HF Windows2000-UURollup-v10b-x86-ENU.exe
HFSLIP HF Windows2000-UpdateRollup2-x86-ENU.exe
HFSLIP HF Windows2000-UpdateRollup2-SrvExt-v2-x86-ENU.exe Server only.
nLite / RVMi OnePiece_Windows_2000_Post-SP4_UpdatePack_v5.0.2_FINAL_ENU.7z

You should use HFSLIP first and then integrate the update pack with nLite or RVMi. Do not try doing it the other way round.

Links to the Onepeice....7z file are broken or down.

The file you are trying to access is no longer available publicly.

However I did find a copy at http://hotfile.com/d....2_FINAL_ENU.7z with the correct md5.

Starting with SP4 I am now going to attempt tocombine the above files into my installation.

A guide to a fully updated Windows 2000: The complete method has been temporarily disabled. It will be back in a different (much better) formula soon.

Tomasz Have you got a date in mind yet?

Actually there was supposed to be an URL in my last post. Without it it sounds a little bit rude and the second part of it doesn't make sense :sneaky:

This is the Windows 2000 Updates list:

http://www.windows2000.tk/updates

but you seem to be interested in a "simpler" solution. I'd recommend checking my HFSLIP folder structure here:

I don't know yet... but it shouldn't take too long :)
