I would like to build a new box. I'd like to spend around 1300 bux. I don't need it to do anything crazy, but i like to play games and would like it to be able to play doom 3 when it comes out. I'm not upto date on any new s*** they have out there. I'd like to build it around the P4 3.0 800 bus. Any help would be great! Thanks guys.
Oh, if this is the wrong forum, sorry about that.

hmm.. well i assuming you want help on what to buy? i'll list what ya could get within $1300 US anyways.. assuming u just want a new box, i'd go with the following;
CPU: Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0C GHz 800MHz FSB, 512KB Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - $229.00
MOBO: ASUS 865PE Chipset Motherboard for Intel Socket 478 CPU, Model "P4P800 Deluxe" - $126.99
Memory: Kingston HyperX Series 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-2700 - $93.00 x 2 for 1gig of DDR
HDD: Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM - $105
CDRW/DVD Combo: Lite-On 48X24X48X16 Combo Drive - $51
Sound card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS PCI Sound Card - $89.00
GFX: ATI RADEON 9800XT Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP - $461.00
You already would have a capable modem, floppy,keyboard and mouse, and your power supply should be fine, just upgrading the big parts of the box
Final cost would be : $1247.99
Just under budget
, and u should find that the upgrades would be a nice pc indeed.. hope u wanted this, as i actually researched but then again i didnt have anything better to do heeh
