updated the pack, since lame_acm.xml was missing and LAME MP3 ACM Codec 3.93.1 didn't register successfully. also fixed a typo in the regfile that prevented gspot from working correctly...

updated 1st post

the cole2k seems to be a nice one, i'll check what useful stuff it contains and extract it as well :)

Just wanted to add my vote of thanks for this project - I just reinstalled today and though most of my software has some sort of unattended setup (.msi's rule!) I hadn't gotten to any codecs yet cause it's so much hassle to put everything together. The install went flawlessly and I don't have to trust an .exe installer! Thanks swgreed!

@swgreed

I'm having problems with the registry file...
I isolated the problem to this line:

Quote

@="\"C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\gspot.exe\" \"%1\""

if you right-klick a avi, mpg, ogg, ogm, etc... file and select "open with" gspot.exe will be available to show the used codecs of the file

@swgreed

Is it to much to ask to add a DTS codec?

just take a closer look at "register.cmd".

the reg is processed at the end.
this pack just copies everything to "%systemroot%\system32" (i.e. for example c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32) and registers several stuff.

note: there is no way to uninstall it unless you delete it manually (but why would you want to do this anyway? :))

you can extract the pack to $OEM$\$\install\codecs or whatever you like and add the following like to your main_batch.cmd

start /wait %systemdrive%\install\codecs\register.cmd

if your installation folder on your CD is not named "install", also change it in the register.cmd where it says:
REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\codecreg.reg

Hi everybody,

I've just tried a simpler way to install the K-Lite Codec Pack. Just create a silent.inf file with the following contents,

[Setup]
Lang=en
Components=divxdec, divx, xviddec, xvid, 3ivxdec, 3ivx, divxmpeg4, wmv, mpeg2, vp3, vp6dec, vp6, dvd, indeo, indeo4, indeo32, i263, huffyuv, msmpeg4, qtcodec, qtdirectshow, qtcpl, qtplugins, realcodec, realdirectshow, mp3audio, wmaaudio, ac3audio, oggvorbis, aac, musepack, voxware, ape, mp3lame, oggvorbissplitter, disg400, disffdshow

then install the codec pack from RunOnceEx.cmd with
the parameters /VERYSILENT /LOADINF=<path_to_your_silent.inf>.
works like a charm. for further info take a peek at the Tips & Tricks at http://www.megacodecpack.com/.

Cheers.

Woah. I couldn't find this thread for a long time.

haha. I thought you'd like it. I used to install sooooo many codecs and had so many problems with conflicting codecs then i found out about this codec pack. I take my hat off to the developers.
