I have a problem with the codecs. I've tried with swgreed codecs and with k-lite codecs and i have always the same error. I just can't play DVD. :(

I receive this error on Media Player Classic: "Failed to render some of the pins of the DVD navigator filter.". I already tried with other players and i also can't play DVD.

What may be the problem? I've tried everything but i can't manage to find. :(

Thanks.

in that case,u better chack ur hardware once.problem may be in player it self or in dvd.
try to open that dvd in another dvd rom if it open then the problem is in ur dvd-rom.
and if the dvd is not opening(in different players) then ,i suggest new one

I've tried to open the DVD in VMware and don't work. I use the same DVD and the same DVD-ROM on my XP system outside VMware and work fine. So the problem may be on the codec or on some configuration on my unattended cd. But i've tried everything with no success.

Any more sugestion? :(

Thanks.

This is great.

I only want the Xvid (encoder) and Ogg (encoder) from this nice package
(I use MediaPlayer Classic... so don't need the AC3filter and CyberlinkDVD, unless they provide better quality.. .anyone knows? (Also I use ffdshow to play videofiles, ffdshow provides better quality and uses less resources))

xvid is no problem.
But after extracting I see Corevorbis.ax, Ogg.dll and OggDS.dll.
wich of these do I need (for encoding?).

Thanks,
and uhmm I thought I knew what to use if I only want Xvid Encoder (use ffdshow to play xvid).... but I am not sure:
Not needed for encoder: system32\xvid.ax
and not needed from codecs.inf:
;xvid 1.0.3
HKCU,Software\GNU\XviD,Supported_4CC,0x10001,0

for encoder only, do need:
system32\xvidcore.dll
system32\xvidvfw.dll (?)

Do need all of these from codecs.inf (?):
1. HKLM,"%Str01%\drivers.desc",xvidvfw.dll,,"XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
2. HKLM,"%Str01%\Drivers32",vidc.XVID,,"xvidvfw.dll"

3. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,Description,,"XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
4. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,Driver,,"xvidvfw.dll"
5. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,FriendlyName,,"XviD"
Is this correct?

And needed from codecs.reg(depends on... if above is correct):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc]
"xvidvfw.dll"="XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"vidc.XVID"="xvidvfw.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaResources\icm\vidc.XVID]
"Description"="XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
"Driver"="xvidvfw.dll"
"FriendlyName"="XviD"
;xvid 1.0.3
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GNU\XviD]
"Supported_4CC"=dword:00000000

If you want to play .mov files add QuickimeAlternative140. That will cover all the formats normally handled by Quicktime.

If you want to do it by only using the codec pack, then go to the first page and download the "full" package (v2.5). It has everything in there, though swgreed indicates that it's not as good as using QuicktimeAlternative140.

It works great for me! I did have some problems w/file associations but if you look back over this topic (close to the beginning) or check out Registering Extensions Unattended you'll be able to fix it w/o problems.

Trying to drum up support.... :)

I've made a webpage for testing your codecs/players. It's far from finished but I'm adding new media when I can (still trying to finish my unattended CD as well).

Here is the page:
Media Codec Test Page

Here is the related post:
Sample Video, Audio, Streaming Media

If anyone has small sample videos (with sound would be good) for some of the codecs. I would appreciate it.

I did it because I wanted to make sure I had all the codecs installed properly and the player file associations setup. I don't use most of these codecs but someone's PC I will use my unattended CD on might need them. Anyway, I hope some people find it useful.

Thank you!

It's a great idea. I've been looking for samples to use for testing (I have to test each system).

I'm just doing a clean install so I'll test them in my Virtual PC this evening. They worked ok on my real machine but theres all sorts of stuff on it at the moment.

Have you checked what codec GSpot says it is using? If you install the Unattended codec pack then you should be able to right-click, open with..., GSpot. It will tell you if the codec is not installed.

Thanks for the .RAM file. I also have this exact clip but am having problems playing it at the moment. Does it work ok on your machine? If so I'll put it on the site.

Thanks.

So are you saying that it doesn't work until after you use GSpot to check it?

That's weird :huh:

Does GSpot tell you it's using the correct codec (press the '1' button at the bottom).

Sounds like something is not registering correctly. When you run the codecs.cmd do you get any errors?

Do you install WMP 10 codecs as well?

I'm just testing it now with me new install. The install went a bit wrong though so I'm not sure if it's a good test.

One other thing. Does this happen with both videos?

i have no errors in my batch file
and for the wmp10, i install the default stuff, nothing more

edit:
what is the file name of the Indeo 5.2820.15.58 codec?
and the file name for Elecard MPEG 2
