I only signed on to say a very big thank you to "swgreed". Thanks
This really is the most refreshing thing to arrive on the net since codecs began emerging. Personally I download all the most popular codec installation packages and install them. But this little baby fills in the gaps to play anything else that may crop up with media downloaded or aquired through the net and other means.
I use soo many codec packages. It would be nice to develop one installer package that just did everything. Only problem is that because its an insertion of great goodies and registry keys it often leads to programs detecting codecs as being broken or incorrectly installed/uninstalled.
Never-the-less, I am very greatful for this pack. I hope it continues to remain a non-installer package. Its great that I can just browse at what I have and know what I want to do with it. Making an installer is useful but very annoying after a while as you can get issues with the installer and perhaps not realise it until a codec is not used.
I much prefer the currect implementation and want to again thank "swgreed" for this very neat utility package that just contains everything you may ever need to run any form of media found on the internet. I have other seperate stuff that have a mini installer that does other things like play VOXWARE audio that often can be found in some WMV videos.
I also have a small utility that takes care of audio in some older DIVX encoded files that play 4.02 audio. Even DivX 5.2.1 does not play 4.02 audio which is a pain but the mini installer I have takes care of it all. I am also using the DivX 6.1 codec and its pretty awful in my opinion. Im sure 5.2.1 is faster and doesnt have issues with speeding up and slowing down. As a PC systems engineer I know what im doing, its just a little frustrating to upgrade and feel like you're downgrading
Anyway thanks for hearing me out people
PEACE OUT !!!

Im currently having problems with the "l3codecp.acm" file. Apparently this is supposed to contain the MP3 ACM decoder information. When I use the Radium codec, it works fine and plays all MP3 ACM data in the files I have. It was the cause which stopped one of my emulators to function properly. I still to this day dont know why the MP3 ACM codec suddenly stopped working.
Now I used the Radium codec and all was good, everything was working. Now my Creative Labs SouldBlaster Live! Value card has issues with playing MIDI files. Basically, it doesnt play them. Take a look at this and you will understand my problem: -

This problem is annoying and wont allow me to listen to any kind of midi now
PEACE OUT !!!

Integrate it as an hotfix using nLite or use the RVMintegrator.

Something I'm noticing with this codec pack.
If I have WMP10 added to my XP UA install and I add the codec pack from runonceex then the codec pack deletes "L3codeca.acm".This would be a good thing if you added these reg change entries:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{7D8EA000-731E-11d0-AC50-00AA00BF35C4}\InProcServer32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\l3codecp.acm"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{7D8EA000-731E-11d0-AC50-00AA00BF35C4}\InProcServer32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\l3codecp.acm"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Netshow\Player\Codecs\MPEG Layer-3]
"URL"="http://www.microsoft.com/netshow/codecs.htm"
And add this to remove the l3codeca.acm entry from the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc] "C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\l3codeca.acm"=- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "msacm.l3acm"=-
Then at least I could playback mp3s with WMP10. Currently your pack pack leaves mp3 playback broken in wmp10.
Mind you I can still rip an audio track to mp3 with WMP10 even though I can't play them in WMP10 after installing 2.0 codecs (actually been like this since I used v1.7)
Reason: mp3 playpack in wmp10 is broken because even though WMP10 comes with the same "L3codecp.acm" codec as in the 2.0 codec pack (for encoding mp3s). But WMP10 still uses "L3codeca.acm" to playback mp3s. Since your codec pack removes the "L3codeca.acm" file and it doesn't alter the CLSID for the MP3 codec in the registry for playback, the CLSID still points to "L3codeca.acm" for playback (windows default).
Hence the reg changes added above fixes this.
Also this way the "L3codecp.acm" mp3 codec can be used in all apps to encode or playback (eg:VirtualDub) not just WMP10 or MPC .
PS. WMP10 is not my player choice, MPC is my player of choice (for those that want to flame about WMP10).
PSS. Sorry if some1 has already posted this , but 41 pages was beyond my time scope to find out.
Cheers

- DivXsm.exe /register
<Edit>
If people wanted something a little more universal in this respect, I suppose that an SFX which extracts, runs the inf with the command I gave in the readme, and deleted the extracted files again, may be a good idea!

I know , not needed in ZP or MPC , but still since there's added DivX cpl
why not XviD cpl .. hmmm  .. buwahaha.
I've just been adding shortcuts with the target as
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe xvid.ax,Configure
Nice work and thank you on the codec pack addon BTW , it's pretty sweet as is... All good.
Thank You swgreed , Yzöwl , kelsenellenelvian ..
Cheers.

Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to enable playback of WMV files in either of my media players. I was able to get WMV playback to work by installing Windows Media Lite 2.0 (from free-codecs.com). After browsing more through the forums here, I discovered WM10Lite, which may be an even better (less bloat) choice than Windows Media Lite.
Can someone tell me what is the minimum I need to install in order to enable WMV playback on the Reduced Media Edition of Windows XP?
