How do you identified that it was not integrated correctly?

The matter is simple, when you install Windows, this update is still reported to download.

As far as I remember right, I got no probs with this update. I took all - WMP11/RDC7/MSXML4/IE8 - from my list (see signature) but w/o WU/MU.

But which updates do you use?

Probably a problem like this klick (read also the following postings from Acheron)

I run my file-checker against this list and... wow... so many obsolete updates, also regarding IE8 (see log-file):

I suggest to use the file-checker as long as the output tells you that all is OK.

My log-file is just an example, because I don't know the goal of your HFSLIP-process. Please enter YOUR options in the file-checker-INI which will be created at the first run.

You get this tool from my site (see signature).

PS.In view of the fact that not all can set an option, I would ask to place your ini file, I'll add that I HFCABS directory i have SWFLASH.CAB and wbemoc.cab ,also downloaded WindowsXP-KB976323-x86-PLK.exe and WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-PLK.exe,the moment I can not just download the reg file - connection problems, try later,of course I removed all unnecessary and unknown hotfix in accordance with your advice

For these file - sorry - but I cannot help you. I don't use them. When I started to create my update-list I found these updates on this XP-List and I just took them (also to the file-checker). When I test a Windows-XP-installation (in a VM after running HFSLIP) I always go to the WU-site (or MU-site) and download the required components which a required for using these update-sites. When I install Windows XP on a real machine, I don't use automatic updates. That's why I don't integrate these MU/WU-files. Sorry.

Ok, I understand, what the problem with downloading, I wanted to WindowsXP-KB968389-x86.reg,in your log it was written that it is missing but I've downloaded and added to the directory HFSVCPACK,the rest drove them and everything is ok, tested on VM,I asked about the ini file, because I need it in the future to check the unnecessary amendments, the script is great, thanks to him I got rid of a lot of garbage, once again Thank you.

I attached the INI which I use for checking the updates (this is NOT the INI I used yesterday for checking your update-list - I don't have the INI anymore - if I remember right, it was the default-INI which will be created by the file-checker).

But if you use my ini PLEASE read the ini and ...
1. confirm that all my settings are correct for you (WMP, IE, ... OPTIONAL, ADVISORIES, HOTFIXES...). Otherwise change it.
2. I've added some files to the WIN-section (starting with "+WIN"). I've added files here which are not checked by default - clean up this section. This section is not really necessary, just for me to ensure that I have it all.
3. I've added some files to the IGNORE-section (starting with "+IGNORE"). These are updates I don't want to have (they will not be listed as missing) - clean up this section. This section is not really necessary, but I don't want to see some missing updates again and again...

:)

Ini file customized to your needs and now it shows me for example :

wrong (O): HF\WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-PLK.exe (Permanent copy of Package Installer, it's for WU)
unknown: HFCABS\ieaccess.cab

and how not to integrate the WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-PLK.exe after installing Windows, and so I have to download, and ieaccess.cab is required to integrate IE

WU ist not set to 1 in the INI. But no need to change the INI. Ignore this output.

I made further amendments in the ini file:), I threw ieaccess.cab (had read that was needed only in HFSLIP 2.0 and I use your 1.7.10J)and now my hfslipfc.log looks ;

unknown: HFSVCPACK\tweaks.reg
not found (H): HF\WindowsXP-KB961503-x86-PLK.exe (Non-English Input Method Editor (IME) Update)
missing (S): HFTOOLS\7za.exe (Needed for Addons)

tweaks.reg file is a file added by me, the other two are just unnecessary,so now I can probably safely do their version of Win XP :)

Thanks for your help and your time

You can add this file in the WIN-section of the INI to avoid this message

Is this file in your HF folder?

Oh, Mim0, I see the files HFTOOLS\hfanswer.ini, Defrag.cmd and HFSLIP_POST_Defrag.cmd in your posted ini. Could you be kind to share these with us?

Defrag.cmd and HFSLIP_POST_Defrag.cmd are downloadable from my list (table 6) since a couple of days

hfanswer.ini: there's nothing special in it...

PS: you can find infos about the ini on my site (under "Extras") ;)

if you specify a fully qualfied file name (with path),you have to use the complete name (here: "WindowsXP-" is missing, see above) :)

Wow, thank you. But I found something interesting in the Advanced features page. The link for modifyPE is a little strange:
mhtml:file://L:\Temp\WXP_Update_Checklist\hfslip.org\AdvancedFeatures.mht!ftp://ftp.sac.sk/pub/sac/utilprog/modpe081.zip
Does it mean you have the whole hfslip.org saved on your pc? :blushing:
