What approach should I take? I have looked at Drive Image, Ghost and Casper as possible options for generating a bootable, restorable (just copy files back to HD to restore) MB DVD. However all these products seem to generate images of the entire partition containing the modified install. Is there another product I should consider for the backup portion of my MB DVD that will allow for backing up, restoring the entire backup as well as copying individual files from the backup?

Fresh install and backup of modified fresh install

Sorry, but I have a nube question. I have read with great interest the multi-boot postings, as well as many other links dealing with building a small fresh install of XP (and tools). I would like to build a MB DVD with the option of a fresh install as well as a bootable restorable backup of a modified XP install. After the MB DVD is complete I could use the same shell and just change the modified backup when neccesary.

Okay...... Lemme see if I understand.
You want a multi-boot dvd.
You want to be able to install xp, and maybe other OSes.
You want a backup capable of doing a full backup (ghost, etc...) then restoring (possibly) modified documents to a set location.
Did I get the point?
